Acceptance and Commitment Therapy therapists in Alpine, Utah UT
Chris Whitehead
Counselor/Therapist, CMHC
Starting on the path of counseling or therapy can be a bit intimidating. However, it doesn’t have to be. Working in a friendly and caring environment and with a kind, understanding, and caring counselor can make the process easier, more comfortable, and even fun. Sometimes we may feel as though we are malfunctioning or broken; but I don’t believe anyone is actually broken. They are just doing something, or behaving in a way, that they would like to change. The trick is to find a new way, an enjoyable way, a way that rejuvenates, reinvigorates, and brings zest to life.
Finding that new way may feel a little strange or difficult at first, but that’s part of the fun; trying on new patterns of thinking and behaving to see what fits and what we like best. Working in a safe and relaxed environment can help in this process, because it helps us to feel comfortable and assured.
When counseling and therapy are done purposefully and cooperatively; learning, developing, and incorporating the new strategies and patterns can be a pleasant and enjoyable journey. To learn more about this process please reach out or schedule an appointment on my website. I'm happy to help.
