Everyone has some level of variability in their moods. For some the range of variability is way too much, and behaviors can reach dysfunctional levels such that relationships are damaged and other opportunities, such as careers, might suffer. Fortunately there are helpful medications, but I am not a medical doctor which means I do not prescribe medications. I do, however, encourage their use when appropriate. Understanding the disorder and learning helpful behaviors is where I will help you. I have had a lot of experience in this area of mental health, including a family member who has struggled with it for many years.
I have helped clients presenting with Bipolar Disorder for many years. I find that people can improve symptomology by understanding that fluctuations in mood doesn't have to define who they are as long as they have helpful and meaningful ways of managing their experiences.
When this is a presentation for our patients, we look to better understand what may be contributing to this. If this is something that wants to be addressed, and if so, how and when. Pacing is the key here.

Bipolar disorder can range from mild mood swings to severe episodes of mania and depression. Having worked in both crisis services and outpatient settings, I’ve seen the full spectrum of this disorder. I tailor treatment to meet clients where they are, helping them manage emotional highs and lows, and stabilize their mood through a combination of practical strategies for emotional regulation and trauma-informed care where needed.
