Alexandria, Virginia therapist: Brad Croyle, licensed professional counselor
Sports Psychology

Brad Croyle

Licensed Professional Counselor, MA. LPC
I work with athletes with various issues related to Sports Performance and Sports Psychology. EMDR can be used to enhance muscle eye coordination, executive focus and other areas to enhance development and athletic abilities. We can work to remove maladaptive areas to improve performance, or work to improve performance under extreme stress and pressure through a variety of techniques and coping skills. We can work to maintain healthy and balanced mood and a winning attitude of confidence and security. We will work to develop a schedule that meets your needs to create balance in life. During our sessions, we will collaborate to create a plan for addressing this that helps you resolve such issues in a meaningful manner to restore functioning enabling and empowering you to move beyond your past abilities while embracing new ones. I practice from a Holistic perspective and commonly employ EMDR and other effective modalities with helping athletes achieve balance and purpose in their lives and creative solutions to their problems. This includes exploring past issues and trauma that may be a factor and specifically this can lead to blocks with respect to performance. My goal is to resolve any inner or trauma related fears to unlock the athlete's inner potential to achieve their very best performance including competing under pressure and also focusing on the acquisition of new skills and breaking maladapting patterns when needed. I have worked with athletes in Golf, Basketball, Soccer, Baseball, Ice Hockey, Swimming, and Football.

Sports Psychology

Jason Powell

Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFT, CST
Behind the discipline, pressure, and public image, athletes are still human - navigating relationships, identity, and the emotional cost of constant performance. My work with professional athletes goes beyond sport; it focuses on the relational and psychological demands that come with success, visibility, and private strain. Therapy offers a discreet space to process the intersections of competition, intimacy, and identity - how performance anxiety, trust issues, or infidelity can quietly affect focus, motivation, and connection at home. Together, we address the emotional load of being depended on, desired, or defined by the game, and build the tools to sustain balance both on and off the field. Sessions are conducted privately through HIPAA-compliant Zoom across twelve licensed states, and in person at 220 Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. For high-profile clients, confidentiality and precision are paramount — the work stays focused, contained, and entirely your own.
