You've done real therapeutic work. You understand your patterns with a clarity that took years to build: why your nervous system braces before a difficult conversation, why certain relationships seem to confirm your oldest fears, why the same emotional weather keeps returning no matter how much you've examined it. That understanding is not the problem. There is simply a neurobiological ceiling to what verbal processing can reach. Some people hit it - and when they do, the patterns that remain aren't stored as thoughts to be reframed. They live in the nervous system, in the body's tissues, in responses that were encoded long before language was available to organise them. I work at that ceiling. Not because what came before was wrong - but because the next layer of work requires a different kind of access. With over 20 years of experience and a deep specialisation in body-based trauma release, I work with self-aware individuals who are ready to move from understanding their patterns to releasing them. If that's where you are, I'd like to hear from you.

Treatment Approach

  • Behavioral Therapy Uses learning techniques like reinforcement and practice to change unwanted behaviors. It is often applied to phobias, anxiety, and habits.
  • Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) Builds skills in self-kindness and compassion toward others. It is especially helpful for people who struggle with shame or self-criticism.
  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Focuses on strengthening emotional bonds in couples or families. It helps people identify negative cycles and create more secure connections.
  • Integrative Therapy Combines techniques from multiple approaches into a customized plan. It adapts to each client’s unique situation and needs.
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
  • Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.
  • Transpersonal Therapy Integrates spirituality and higher states of consciousness with psychology. It encourages growth beyond the individual self.
Approach Description: My approach integrates four frameworks that together address what the body, the mind, and the nervous system each need for lasting change. Internal Family Systems provides the relational map - working with the parts of you that have been protecting you, often at great cost, and helping them soften when they finally feel safe enough to do so. Somatic Psychology provides direct access to what's held below the level of thought - sensation, breath, movement, and the body's own capacity to complete what it couldn't finish. Compassionate Inquiry, developed by Dr Gabor Maté, surfaces the unconscious dynamics and early beliefs driving current patterns with precision and without overwhelm. Behavioural Analysis brings rigour to understanding how patterns sustain themselves and how change actually propagates through daily life. These are not used as separate techniques. They inform each other within a single, sequenced therapeutic container shaped around what each client's system needs at each stage of the work.

Karine Flynn Practice Description
My practice, Mind & Soul, is built around a single conviction: that lasting change requires working with the body, not just the mind. The clients who find their way to me tend to share a particular history. They've invested seriously in their own growth - therapy, personal development, self-inquiry. They arrive with real insight and genuine self-awareness. What they're looking for is the next step: the place where intellectual understanding finally becomes felt, embodied change. I call these people healing veterans. And the work we do together begins precisely where their previous work left off. Why the body matters: Trauma and chronic anxiety aren't stored as narratives. They're held as incomplete physiological responses - moments when the body needed to fight, flee, or express something, and couldn't. Those incomplete cycles don't dissolve with time or insight. They continue to shape behaviour, relationships, and emotional experience from beneath the level of conscious thought. Somatic work begins where verbal processing reaches its natural limit. Rather than continuing to explore what happened and why, we work directly with what the nervous system is still holding - creating the safety and structure for those incomplete responses to finally finish. When they do, the nervous system reorganises. Patterns that seemed intractable begin to shift, not because you've understood them better, but because your body has released what it was protecting. How we work together: I offer two primary pathways: 1) The Somatic Release Intensive is my signature one-month programme: seven carefully sequenced sessions with continuous support woven throughout. It's designed for clients whose patterns are layered and interconnected - where releasing one thing reveals another underneath, and sustained containment matters as much as any single session. In-person sessions are available in St Albans and Hatfield, with London delivery available as a blended programme combining online sessions and in-person work at your location. 2) The Somatic Release Mini Package is a focused three-session intervention targeting a specific pattern over two weeks. It's designed for clients who have existing therapeutic support in place, clarity on what needs addressing, and readiness for precise body-based work. Both programmes integrate Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic Psychology, Compassionate Inquiry, and Behavioural Analysis - not as a menu of techniques, but as a coherent approach shaped around what each client's nervous system needs. Working with other practitioners: I also work collaboratively with therapists whose clients have reached a plateau in talk-based work. If you're a practitioner with a client who understands their patterns deeply but remains stuck in them, a focused somatic intervention - after which the client returns to you with greater capacity - may be exactly the bridge needed. I welcome referral conversations.
