My work is trauma-informed, compassionate, culturally relevant, and shaped by an awareness that every person carries the capacity and wisdom to heal. My approach is non-judgmental and based in relationality, as starting with a strong therapeutic relationship is important for fostering your experiences and authentic self to flow naturally. If you’re feeling fed up with the weight of your emotions and feeling like every day is a struggle to manage, then therapy might be your next step. Therapy can be the place to not only work through the traumatic and difficult parts of your life, but also to celebrate your progress and all the beautiful things that you experience along the way. I offer a free 15-minute New Client Consultation to help you find out if I would be a good fit for you.

Treatment Approach

  • Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) A trauma-focused therapy that uses eye movements and imagery to help the brain reframe distressing memories. It often leads to quicker relief from symptoms compared to traditional talk therapy.
  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
  • Biopsychosocial Therapy Takes into account biological, psychological, and social factors in understanding mental health. It looks at the whole person, not just symptoms.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) Builds skills in self-kindness and compassion toward others. It is especially helpful for people who struggle with shame or self-criticism.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.
  • Eclectic Therapy Draws from different therapeutic methods based on what fits each client best. It is flexible and personalized rather than following one single model.
  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Focuses on strengthening emotional bonds in couples or families. It helps people identify negative cycles and create more secure connections.
  • Feminist Therapy Addresses how gender roles, power, and social inequality affect mental health. It empowers clients to challenge limiting beliefs and systems.
  • Hakomi Method A mindfulness-based approach that helps clients notice unconscious patterns in their body and mind. It emphasizes compassion and non-judgment.
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
  • Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) Combines mindfulness practices with CBT to prevent depression relapse. It helps people notice thoughts without judgment and respond more calmly.
  • Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
  • Psychoanalytic Therapy Based on Freud’s theories, it explores unconscious conflicts and past experiences. It seeks to bring hidden issues into awareness.
  • Psychodynamic Therapy Explores unconscious thoughts and patterns that influence current behavior. It builds insight into how the past impacts the present.
  • Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.
Approach Description: I adapt sessions to what is most helpful for you, which often includes a blend of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and somatic approaches. For healing to happen, there needs to be enough space within and outside of ourselves for change and growth. My work is centered around helping you understand yourself and your experiences to create this space, while guiding you to feel confident in your capacity to live the life you want.

Jianna Khouri Practice Description
My support is tailored to what you need, which often involves both cognitive approaches, like Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), along with body-centered approaches, including Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Focusing-Oriented Therapy (FOT), and parts work. I have experience supporting people with ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, difficult life transitions, and relationship stressors. As a second generation Canadian, I understand first-hand the importance of acknowledging how cultural identity can shape the way you experience therapy, recognizing that Culture is often foundational to your story. I also strive to be a supportive 2SLGBTQ+ ally and to hold space for every part of you to be seen, heard and valued.
