Sydney Egan (She/Her)

Drug and Alcohol Counselor, AMFT, APCC
 therapist: Sydney Egan,
Online in California (Online Only)
My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in attachment-based therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I support clients in understanding the “why” behind their emotional patterns, while also learning practical skills to regulate intense feelings, navigate relationships more effectively, and develop a stronger, more stable sense of self. Together, we’ll work toward helping you feel more secure, connected, and in control of your emotional world. If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, stuck in painful patterns, or unsure of who you are outside of your struggles, therapy can help. You deserve a space where you feel understood, supported, and empowered to create meaningful, lasting change.

Client Focus

Session Format: Couple, Individual sessions.
Age Specialty: Adult, Teen, Young Adult
Demographic Expertise: LGBTQ+ clients.

Treatment Approach

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
  • Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
  • Psychodynamic Therapy Explores unconscious thoughts and patterns that influence current behavior. It builds insight into how the past impacts the present.
  • Relational Psychotherapy Emphasizes the healing power of the therapist-client relationship. It uses trust and safety as a foundation for change.
Approach Description: I have a strong background in attachment based models such as psychodynamic, and relational therapy. I pull a lot of skills from DBT, I believe that being taught practical skills to regulate our nervous system can be the first step for many clients. Working to both regulate your body as well as dive deep into the attachment wounds that are continuing to show up in your relationships.
