I became a therapist because I believe people deserve a space where they don't have to hold everything together. If you're the person everyone else leans on, the one who's steady, capable, and always a step ahead, I want you to know that you don't have to carry that alone in here.
I'm warm and down to earth in session, and I bring genuine passion to this work. I love what I do, and it shows up in how I show up for you: fully present, paying attention to the details you might not think to mention, and never rushing you toward a version of "better" that isn't yours.
You don't need to perform wellness with me. You don't need to have the right words or a tidy narrative. I just want to get to know you, what's weighing on you, what you've been carrying, and what it might feel like to finally set some of it down.

Treatment Approach
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) A structured therapy that uses guided eye movements to help process traumatic memories. It is widely recognized for treating PTSD and trauma-related conditions.
Approach Description: My work draws from EMDR, CBT, and parts work, chosen based on what will actually help rather than a single fixed method. EMDR is often central to how I work with trauma and stuck patterns, helping the nervous system process experiences that talk therapy alone hasn't fully resolved. CBT offers practical tools for working with the thought patterns and self-criticism that keep anxiety and overthinking running in the background. Parts work helps make sense of the different sides of yourself, the part that pushes you to keep achieving, the part that feels exhausted, the part that struggles to rest, so that instead of fighting these parts, you can understand what they're protecting you from and build a more integrated relationship with yourself.
I don't apply these approaches in a rigid order or all at once. Depending on what you're working through, we might spend more time in one than another, moving between them as it fits what you need in a given session.

Cardigan Counseling is a therapy practice based in Arlington, Texas, serving adults across the Dallas Fort Worth area, in person and via telehealth throughout Texas. The practice is led by Michelle Borunda, LCSW, who specializes in high functioning anxiety, perfectionism, burnout, trauma recovery, and neurodivergence, with additional training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).
Clients at Cardigan Counseling are often high achieving professionals, caregivers, or people others rely on, managing anxiety, overthinking, or long term stress that isn't always visible from the outside. This includes neurodivergent adults, such as those who are autistic, have ADHD, or are AuDHD, who have spent years masking or overcompensating to meet neurotypical expectations at work, in relationships, or in family roles. Treatment is trauma informed and person centered, drawing from a range of approaches rather than one fixed method, so care can be shaped around what each client actually needs, including neurodivergent-affirming approaches that do not treat neurodivergent traits as something to fix or eliminate.
Cardigan Counseling offers both individual EMDR sessions and ongoing talk therapy, with flexible scheduling for working professionals. New clients can request a consultation through the practice website or by phone.
