When new stressors arise, they can activate old patterns that make it hard to cope in a healthy way. It helps to have a place to talk through what is happening in your life today while also working to understand how the past is informing the present. I am an experienced psychodynamic psychologist who can help you do both, so you can reduce distress you are feeling now, and make deep changes that lead to better coping in the future.

Treatment Approach
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) A structured therapy that uses guided eye movements to help process traumatic memories. It is widely recognized for treating PTSD and trauma-related conditions.
- Integrative Therapy Combines techniques from multiple approaches into a customized plan. It adapts to each client’s unique situation and needs.
- Psychoanalytic Therapy Based on Freud’s theories, it explores unconscious conflicts and past experiences. It seeks to bring hidden issues into awareness.
- Psychodynamic Therapy Explores unconscious thoughts and patterns that influence current behavior. It builds insight into how the past impacts the present.
Approach Description: My primary approach is relational psychodynamic, which aims for deep, lasting change by understanding the connection between current thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and past experiences, with a focus on relationships. This is a minimally-structured type of therapy in which the client has lots of space to talk, and gains deep insight that leads to meaningful change. I also use EMDR for intensive trauma processing. This is a well-supported method that allows your own healthy mind to reprocess a trauma in a more mature and adaptive way. I also bring in techniques from cognitive-behavioral therapy and mindfulness where they fit best.

I am a clinical psychologist in private practice, and work both with the Therapeutic Center for Children and Families (www.tc-cf.com) and independently. I see individuals and couples+, typically weekly. My orientation is relational psychodynamic. I also use EMDR, and integrate techniques from various forms of CBT. My style is minimally structured and highly client-centered: you set the agenda and the pace. I see clients age 13 through older adults. My areas of specialty include depression, anxiety, trauma and PTSD, developmental issues, personality/characterological concerns, and relationship issues, among others.
Choosing a therapist can be very difficult! I'm happy to speak with you over the phone to answer questions about me and how I work, and start the conversation about whether we might be a good fit.
