You may be feeling lost, anxious, and don't know why everything that used to work to feel better isn't now. Maybe it feels like your relationships are suffering, like you've never even had a healthy one, or could never share your desires with your partner or partners. Every little thing added to your plate feels so overwhelming and it might be easier just to shut down or hide parts of yourself. You might worry you're "too much" or feel like you can't do anything right. You tell yourself "no one could ever understand or accept me," or "everyone has childhood stuff, I'm fine," ...right? One thing you’re sure of is you want to feel better, safe, and like you have direction. You’re ready to have quality relationships and leave behind old patterns. Most of all, you’re ready to feel good enough and embrace all parts of your identity.

Client Focus

Session Format: Individual sessions.
Age Specialty: Adult
Demographic Expertise: LGBTQ+ clients.

Treatment Approach

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
  • Narrative Therapy Encourages people to view problems as separate from themselves and reframe their life story. It helps build resilience and self-identity.
  • Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
Approach Description: IFS is a model that helps expand your understanding of how and why you feel, think, and act the way you do. This therapy comes with a radical shift in perspective that will allow you to achieve the deep, complete level of healing you're looking for. Combining this approach with regulation skills development and rewriting internal narratives, clients are able to accept themselves fully and feel more internally integrated. IFS is founded on the understanding that all parts have good intentions and are just doing their best to help us in the ways they know how. Parts protect us in ways that worked at one point in our lives, but got frozen in time, leading to the confusing extremes and ineffective coping skills we struggle to push aside or change. IFS recreates your relationship with yourself and unburdens the parts of you from the pain they carry, bringing them up to speed with the present. To a place where they can transform, learn new ways of being, and help you in ways that feel good.

Brie Chandler Practice Description
Guiding Path Counseling is a psychotherapy practice providing individual services to adults in Mesa and across Arizona. I provide sex-positive kink/BDSM-affriming therapy, and help clients navigating relationship challenges, or healing from complex PTSD. Therapy should be a place where you feel safe and understood. All parts of you are welcome here and have value, no matter how taboo you may feel they are. We always go at your pace, never pushing to a place you don’t feel ready to be. Together we create wholeness and connection to release the weight of heavy burdens and shame or embarrassment you might be carrying. It takes courage to connect with the parts of you that have been pushed aside for so long. It may feel scary to face all the things you've been avoiding or consider accepting desires you've kept hidden away. That makes sense. Know you are not alone and I can help you reach the sense of peace you’ve been looking for. Reach out today for a free 15-minute consultation.
