Still Mind Therapist founder Jess Benedetto offers trauma-informed individual therapy, relationship counseling, and wellness coaching focused on how our unmet needs, misunderstood minds, and past experiences contribute to personal, relational, and physical challenges. We believe that when you have a safe, judgment-free space to cultivate a deep awareness of how and why unhealthy patterns developed, you can begin to rebuild trust in yourself and others and move toward healing and meaningful change. Treatment Approach
- Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.
- Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Focuses on strengthening emotional bonds in couples or families. It helps people identify negative cycles and create more secure connections.
- Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
- Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.
Approach Description: Jess holds an MA in Mental Health Counseling and Behavioral Medicine from Boston University School of Medicine, has passed the National Clinical Mental Health Counselor exam (NCMHCE), and is a 200-Hour Registered Yoga Teacher. She comes to the psychotherapy field after a rewarding career as a writer and organizational consultant. Her experience helping non-profit leaders identify needs and collaborate on shared visions, values, and goals has been instrumental in her work as a therapist. Jess lives in the seacoast area with her teenage son. When her own mind gets too chaotic, she finds stillness in movement and nature through yoga, hiking, climbing, and running around with her two goofball dogs, Mila and Wednesday. When her body asks for rest, you’ll find Jess buried in a book, fumbling through a knitting project, or watching a guilty-pleasure series with her cats, Vernie and Hobbes.
