Treatment Approach
- Biopsychosocial Therapy Takes into account biological, psychological, and social factors in understanding mental health. It looks at the whole person, not just symptoms.
- Brainspotting A therapy that uses eye positions to access and process unresolved trauma. It helps release emotional and physical pain held in the body.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.
- Eclectic Therapy Draws from different therapeutic methods based on what fits each client best. It is flexible and personalized rather than following one single model.
- Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) A short-term approach focused on improving relationships and social support. It is often used for depression and grief.
- Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
- Psychodynamic Therapy Explores unconscious thoughts and patterns that influence current behavior. It builds insight into how the past impacts the present.
- Psychoeducational Therapy Provides education and coping tools about mental health conditions. It empowers clients with knowledge and practical skills.
- Schema Therapy Identifies deep-rooted negative patterns formed in childhood. It combines CBT, attachment theory, and experiential methods for change.
- Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.
- Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.
Approach Description: My approach to therapy is person-centered, holistic, and systems-based with depth, compassion and directness. Let's break that down! Person-centered = you're the expert of your own life. Holistic = addressing mind/body/spirit. Systems-based = inclusive of your relationships and social contexts (family, culture, etc.). I will meet you where you are in the present, with a supportive and challenging process, intended to not only address what you're experiencing right here right now but also help you uncover the root causes that subconsciously drive the behavioral patterns that keep tripping you up and hindering you in life. When we know better, we can do better. This can look like learning helpful tools you can take and apply now, while also inspiring new insights and developing the self-awareness you need to carry forward in creating the life-long changes you seek.

Areas of specialization include thought disorders (schizophrenia/schizoaffective disorders), mood disorders (depression, bipolar disorders), anxiety, personality disorders (borderline, narcissistic), family conflict, general life transitions and those seeking to understand themselves more deeply. Whole-person care is imperative, and Fulfillment Counseling respects both Eastern and Western medicine approaches, as well as the array of complementary/alternative options that exist somewhere in between. AcuDetox (or the NADA Protocol)is a form of auricular acupuncture that is available at FCLC. AcuDetox has demonstrated benefit for clients in relaxation, sleep, stress-reduction, detoxing from substances, and in anxiety/ depression/ trauma symptom reduction. As an alternative to needles, application of magnetic beads and/or vaccaria seeds onto specific acupressure points on the ear is an additional option. AcuDetox can be added to therapy services being received or as a stand-alone service for those who already have a therapy provider. In addition, Walk & Talk sessions are available for those wishing to integrate movement into their sessions for a simultaneous mind-body benefit. Light therapy is an another option available at FCLC to add into sessions when clinically appropriate for depression with a seasonal pattern (commonly referred to as Seasonal Affective Disorder).
