Treatment Approach
- Biopsychosocial Therapy Takes into account biological, psychological, and social factors in understanding mental health. It looks at the whole person, not just symptoms.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
- Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) Builds skills in self-kindness and compassion toward others. It is especially helpful for people who struggle with shame or self-criticism.
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) A structured therapy that uses guided eye movements to help process traumatic memories. It is widely recognized for treating PTSD and trauma-related conditions.
- Multicultural Therapy Acknowledges the role of culture, race, and identity in mental health. It values diversity and adapts treatment to each person’s background.
- Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
- Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.
Approach Description: I believe in a collaborative approach to therapy. You are the expert on your own experiences and the goals you want to pursue; my role is to support you in achieving them. Together, we will develop a therapy plan tailored to your needs, which may include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Career Counselling, or other evidenced-based approaches.

I offer both structured and supportive counselling based on your needs. I use Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing to help you notice, understand, and work towards changing your unhelpful thinking patterns. Motivational Interviewing allows us both to have a clear understanding of your goals and helps us develop a therapy plan that is aimed at increasing your personal wellbeing.
In addition to individual therapy, I offer career counselling services. I am certified to administer and interpret the Strong Interest Inventory which can assist those who are having difficulty in choosing a direction for schooling or employment ($25 for Strong report in addition to regular session fees).
I would consider my personal approach as one that is strength-based, positive, and hopeful. I have great faith in the clients with whom I get to work with and believe that every person is capable of achieving personal greatness.
