Advent Christian Counseling

Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFT (R.N.-retired)
 therapist: Advent Christian Counseling,
Online in California, South Carolina (Online Only)
What distinguishes my practice is the breadth of perspective I bring — decades in the healing professions, first as a Registered Nurse and subsequently as a counselor — affording me a genuinely holistic understanding of the individuals I serve. My Christian faith and regard for Biblical truth provide the foundation for all that I do, yet I welcome clients of any background who desire growth grounded in traditional values. If you have found that surface-level approaches fall short of what you need, and you seek someone who will thoughtfully and faithfully accompany you through life's more difficult terrain, I would be honored to speak with you.

Treatment Approach

  • Christian Counseling Blends psychological practices with Christian values and scripture. It provides faith-based support for life challenges and spiritual growth.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Integrative Therapy Combines techniques from multiple approaches into a customized plan. It adapts to each client’s unique situation and needs.
Approach Description: The path to mental health and emotional healing begins when we become aware that something in our lives is not working and, seeking understanding, reach out for help. When we take that step, we open the door to new possibilities, just as the freshness of spring can follow a hard winter. Two thousand years ago, first-century men and women encountered the power of God in Christ at His first coming — His Advent. This same Jesus continues to confirm His presence with us in the midst of our difficulties, bringing hope, healing, restoration, and transformation. In our work together, I draw upon Biblical truth, clinical insight, and genuine compassion to help you move from where you are to where God is calling you to be. I hold firmly to the truth of Ephesians 2:10 — that you are God's workmanship, created for good works He prepared in advance. Therapy, as I understand it, is part of the process through which God lovingly brings us into alignment with His purpose.

Advent Christian Counseling Practice Details

Therapy Sessions Advent Christian Counseling Practice Description
I have devoted my adult life to the healing professions, beginning as a Registered Nurse and later transitioning into the practice of Counseling. My Christian faith, love for God, and commitment to Scripture and Biblical truth constitute the foundation of my practice. I offer compassionate, supportive care in which you will feel heard, valued, and encouraged as you pursue growth and healing. As a Christian Counselor, my aim is to meet you where you are and walk with you toward a healthier, stronger place. My nursing background informs my understanding of the profound impact physical illness can have upon mental health and overall well-being, and I maintain an active interest in both conventional medicine and alternative healing modalities. The path to emotional healing commences when we recognize that something in our lives is not working and, in seeking understanding, reach out for help. In taking that step, we open the door to new possibilities — much as the freshness of spring follows a hard winter. One of the passages I return to often in my practice is Ephesians 2:10: "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." I believe this verse speaks to the process through which God, in His love, brings us into alignment with His purposes for our lives. If you are experiencing anxiety, depression, grief and loss, difficulty in relationships, medical concerns, or other challenges, and you seek counseling in alignment with your Christian faith, I would be honored to speak with you. For those of differing faiths, I offer counseling oriented toward growth and healing, grounded in traditional values. Whether you are facing a difficult season or simply desire to grow, it would be my privilege to walk alongside you as God brings healing, hope, and renewed purpose to your life.
