    Counselor/Therapist

Phoenix, AZ | Tucson, AZ (Offers Online Therapy)

Being in relationship with others can uncover areas of strength as well as struggle.  The stress brought on by differences in relationships may feel overwhelming and dangerous-shutting you down or revving you up in ways that have you perplexed and not feeling as good about yourself or as close with others as you'd like.   If you grew up in a family that didn't do much self reflection, perspective taking, emotion coaching or repair making, you may feel at a bit of a loss with how to navigate relationship struggles in helpful ways that model healthy skills and grow greater self awareness and relational respect and intimacy. Perhaps you've vented to  friends and family to reduce the tension of the latest disagreement.  For most of us though, that doesn't get us the perspective and skills necessary to get unstuck or moving forward more productively.  We all need an objective, outside perspective when doing more of the same isn't working.     Let's get you a few new options with greater relational satisfaction and results.  Even if your partner or child won't attend, sometimes the power of one can make a huge difference. Perhaps today is a good day to take a risk and reach out to see if the change you seek is more attainable than you think. I specialize in working with individuals, couples and families experiencing challenges with emotional intensity, mental inflexibility and behavioral impulsivity.  I work with all ages and if there's not a good fit between us, I'll do my best to lead you in the right direction. During these trying times, we are all under additional stress.   However, for many this time has provided an opportunity to grow and change for the better.   I bring a wholistic, curious, light-hearted, real and down to earth approach that takes into account your unique needs and goals. If you're ready to try something new and would like support please reach out for help.   While I don't accept insurance, I do have current openings.  I look forward to hearing from you soon.

    Amy Guido Practice Description

Are you or a loved one struggling with behavioral challenges? Despite your best effort, things seem stuck-getting better for a time, but not holding for long. Perhaps you're a parent of a child or partner to an adult who has struggled personally and relationally. Perhaps it's you who is struggling and wanting to understand and improve these challenges. All behavior is communication, sometimes it flags a stress response to underlying struggles, unmet needs and unsolved problems. If all your best efforts have you turning against, or away from, one another or yourself, please reach out for support. Often once underlying issues are addressed and needs are met, challenging behavior recedes.
I currently provide telehealth-based skills-building support; working with individuals, couples and whole family systems if desired. Everyone can call in from home, work or school, kids can attend part of a session and adults can complete the remainder; learning skills that guide the whole family toward progress and greater peace. While I don't accept insurance, I do have openings and can get you in without a long wait. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
