Bill Hoekstra Practice Description
I hold specialties in behavioral sleep medicine, psychological assessment, treatment of psychological trauma, and treatment of anxiety and depression. My 24+ years in practice provide solid experience for accurate diagnosis and effective treatment of a wide range of psychological conditions. I am PSYPACT authorized by the Interstate Compact to provide psychological care to patients in 39 states. For a list of states, please follow this link: https://psypact.org/mpage/psypactmap I regularly treat sleep disorders, psychological trauma symptoms, and issues associated with more common forms of anxiety and depression. I use ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy) and am deeply trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy). These treatment approaches are not traditional "talk therapies." Instead, they are best thought of as memory processing interventions focused on restructuring memory storage and retrieval as well as reducing body reactivity to traumatic recall. The goal of therapy is to eliminate any distress related to one’s trauma history. Additionally, I use a variety of other evidence-based interventions including CBT, ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention), and coping skills training based on client needs and treatment planning goals. My clients frequently describe me as warm, caring, professional, practical, and down-to-earth. I believe in working collaboratively, informing my clients about their symptoms, providing them with practical ways to address their symptoms, and ensuring they can see their progress. Please visit my website to learn more about CBT-I, A.R.T., and the treatment of mood and sleep problems. I look forward to helping you find relief and get back on track to a better, happier life!
