Treatment Approach

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
  • Behavioral Therapy Uses learning techniques like reinforcement and practice to change unwanted behaviors. It is often applied to phobias, anxiety, and habits.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI) A collaborative, client-centered approach that strengthens motivation for change. It is especially effective for addictions and health behaviors.
  • Neuropsychology Examines how brain function affects thinking, memory, and behavior. It often involves assessment and rehabilitation strategies.
  • Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) Helps parents strengthen their bond with their child while learning effective strategies to manage challenging behaviors. Through live coaching, parents practice positive communication, set clear boundaries, and build a more supportive, nurturing home environment.
Approach Description: Most of our clients are struggling with BIG emotions or BIG behaviors - enter Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, where we focus on how to change your thinking AND your behavior to feel better. From there, we add in Exposure and Response Prevention to build bravery, Activity Planning to improve mood, Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions to help parents respond to anxious emotions, Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for stubborn obsessions, or even parent coaching to support children in expressing their emotions with fewer tears and tantrums. Our therapists are trained to use appropriate evidence-based interventions for your specific needs, so you know you're getting the best possible care.

Brave Young Minds Practice Description
Wondering about worries? You’re looking for the right therapist to help. You’re overwhelmed and exhausted. The worries, what-ifs, and wonderings are just too much to handle. You’re sick of the tears, tantrums, and terrible nights. You wish this anxiety would just leave you alone. Sometimes you think that these fears are normal, but recently school is getting harder, friendships are falling apart, and life at home is so stressful you could cry. You want to find someone who can help you, your child, or your teen to gain the confidence and flexibility to get life back on track. Wondering if online therapy or parent coaching will help? We offer in-person therapy in Texas and Missouri, as well as online options. You’re not alone – lots of people wonder about whether online therapy or parent coaching will work for them. Most research shows that online therapy is about as effective as traditional in-person therapy, even for kids and adolescents. Plus there are added benefits such as convenience, fewer cancelled sessions, no transportation time/cost, and the ability to practice skills where change needs to happen most – at home, with family, and with friends. Wondering about ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, or Learning Disabilities? We also offer psychological testing to help point you in the best direction for treatment. Sometimes having an accurate diagnosis is the best step toward finding the solution that works for you and your family. Our psychologists are trained to diagnose a wide range of concerns and provide recommendations for the next best step. “You don’t need to see the whole staircase; just take the first step.” — Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
