Campbell Teen Family Therapy (CTFT) is built on the values of helping teens and families and giving back to the community. Having a team versus being a solo practitioner is important. One of the biggest contributing factors to the success of therapy is goodness of fit. In order for therapy to work the client needs to have the right person. Having a diverse staff means that patients have a choice about who they see and we do our best to match a client with the therapist who is just right for them! At CTFT, our staff members are like minded and believe that supporting a teen sometimes takes a village. Having a team means that parents can have their needs met too, whether it is through parent coaching, individual therapy, couples therapy or family therapy, we can provide all of the support a parent might need when raising a family. Often parents are heard saying “they wish there was a handbook for how to raise their kids.” We offer parent coaching using techniques from Love and Logic and Positive Discipline. We believe that parenting approaches are not a one size fits all and work with parents to find the approach that best meets their needs. In family therapy, we go outside of the box in our treatment. We are wiling to work with any members of the family who are willing and able to come. We offer sessions with any combination of family members we believe should be there; parent and child, just parents, siblings only or all members present at once. We believe that any change made in any one member of the family will affect change in the entire system. . We believe that therapy should be accessible to all. At CTFT we give back, by volunteering to provide pro bono therapy to foster kids through a program called “A Home Within.” So when you come to our practice, you are not just helping your family, but those families who can’t otherwise have access to mental health treatment. CTFT was founded in 2011 and is owned by Ingrid Higgins, MFT

Campbell Teen & Family Therapy, Inc. Practice Description
CTFT offers: Teen Therapy: Teen Therapy can provide the support teens need from a safe adult to process difficulties they are faced with in today’s world. Family therapy: Family therapy sessions can give families tools to deepen family relationships and get through stressful times. Parent Coaching: Parent coaching empowers parents to parent the way they really want to. Our parent coaches use Love and Logic and Positive Discipline techniques to help you to know what to do in any situation! EMDR Therapy: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and panic disorders. FBT Therapy: Family-based treatment (FBT) is one of the most successful treatments for eating disorders in children and teens with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and other specified feeding or eating disorder (OSFED). We have therapists who are trained in FBT and love working with eating disorders. Nutrition Therapy: CTFT partnered with Bay Area Nutrition, LLC to provide dietitians to meet with and assess the impact of nutrition on mental health and to develop a user friendly and cohesive plan for those with eating disorders and other mental health illness. We recognize the impact of nutrition on developing minds and bodies and its role in healing the whole person. Comprehensive Psycho Educational Evaluation: This evaluation goes beyond in-school testing to formally diagnose any potential learning or neurodevelopmental disorders and includes cognitive, academic, processing, social-emotional, and preliminary neuropsychological testing. It will cover all learning disabilities in reading, writing, math, cognitive processing, language, and visual motor integration. The report will provide recommendations for home, school, employment, and the community. Educational Neuropsychological Evaluation: If your concerns extend beyond the question of whether or not your child has a learning disability and you want to learn about their gifts, strengths, and cognitive profile, then the educational neuropsychological evaluation will provide you with the information you need to leverage their strengths, remediate weaknesses, and to develop a treatment plan for any potential disorders or skill deficits related to learning and cognitive processing. ADHD Evaluation: This evaluation culminates in a written report and feedback session that confirms the presence of the diagnosis or that provides evidence of other possible indicators for the challenges being experienced with recommendations for further testing and supports. Autism Spectrum Disorder Evaluation: This evaluation culminates in a written report and feedback session that confirms the presence of the diagnosis or that provides evidence of other possible indicators for the challenges being experienced with recommendations for further testing and supports. Independent Educational Evaluation: An independent educational evaluation (IEE) is an evaluation of a student by a qualified professional who does not work for a school district responsible for the education of the child. IQ testing: An IQ (Intelligence Quotient) test is an individually administered, standardized assessment that measures the western world’s construct of intelligence, which is based on problem solving ability and reasoning. Pediatric Psychiatry: Child and adolescent psychiatrists are specialists in pediatric psychiatry. Their focus is diagnosing and treating disorders that affect how children think, feel, and behave. They look at the whole child/teen including the genetic, physical, developmental, cognitive, emotional, family, and peer influences on the mental health Medication Management: If it is determined that medication will be helpful, our pediatric psychiatrist will provide medication monitoring to reduce side effects and safely reach a therapeutic dosage and collaborate with us to form an ideal treatment plan. The Wellness Program: Our Wellness Program is intended to support the teen and their family in navigating challenging times in their lives. Our goal is to bridge the gap between patients who are not progressing with once a week therapy but do not meet the criteria for an Intensive Out Patient Program (IOP). Early intervention at an appropriate level supports teens in staying in school or college rather than the interruption an IOP, PHP (Partial Hospitalization Program) or residential treatment program can cause. We want families to have the skills needed to support their teens, tweens and young adults through the roughest of times. Additionally, we want to build community support, reduce isolation and the stigma of mental illness. Teletherapy: An online session can be a safe, effective, and convenient alternative to therapy.
