Treatment Approach

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Dance / Movement Therapy Uses movement and body awareness to express emotions and improve mental health. It can increase confidence, reduce stress, and support healing.
  • Integrative Therapy Combines techniques from multiple approaches into a customized plan. It adapts to each client’s unique situation and needs.
  • Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
  • Psychoeducational Therapy Provides education and coping tools about mental health conditions. It empowers clients with knowledge and practical skills.
  • Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.
Approach Description: My approach to therapy is integrative, combining evidence-based psychotherapy with mind-body approaches to support each client’s unique needs and goals. I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify patterns of thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while developing practical coping skills and tools for change. Through psychoeducation, I help clients better understand their experiences, build self-awareness, and develop strategies for emotional regulation and resilience. As a Board-Certified Dance/Movement Therapist, I also incorporate somatic and Dance/Movement Therapy approaches to support the connection between the mind and body. Together, we may explore body awareness, movement, mindfulness, and nonverbal expression as additional pathways for understanding emotions and processing experiences. My work is grounded in a person-centered approach, emphasizing empathy, collaboration, authenticity, and creating a safe space where clients feel heard and supported throughout their healing journey.

Diane Davis Practice Description
I believe healing involves more than just talking about our experiences—it also includes listening to the wisdom of the body. While insight and understanding are important parts of therapy, lasting change often happens when we develop a deeper awareness of the connection between our thoughts, emotions, physical sensations, and lived experiences. I provide therapy for adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, life transitions, emotional overwhelm, and feeling disconnected from themselves. My approach integrates traditional psychotherapy with Dance/Movement Therapy, mindfulness, and somatic awareness to support healing through a whole-person perspective. Together, we may explore your experiences through conversation, movement, creative expression, body awareness, or a combination of approaches tailored to your needs, goals, and comfort level. I strive to create a compassionate, collaborative, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel safe to explore challenges, build self-awareness, strengthen coping skills, and reconnect with their authentic selves. I believe the therapeutic relationship is an important part of the healing process, and I work to meet each client with empathy, curiosity, and acceptance. Dance/Movement Therapy does not require any dance experience or ability. Movement can be as simple as noticing your breath, observing body sensations, exploring posture, or engaging in gentle movement as a way to better understand yourself and your experiences. Through this integrative approach, my goal is to support clients in developing greater self-understanding, emotional resilience, and connection so they can move through life with increased confidence, authenticity, and well-being.
