Treatment Approach
- Art Therapy Uses creative activities like drawing, painting, or sculpture as a way to express emotions. It is especially helpful when words are hard to find.
- Behavioral Therapy Uses learning techniques like reinforcement and practice to change unwanted behaviors. It is often applied to phobias, anxiety, and habits.
- Biopsychosocial Therapy Takes into account biological, psychological, and social factors in understanding mental health. It looks at the whole person, not just symptoms.
- Christian Counseling Blends psychological practices with Christian values and scripture. It provides faith-based support for life challenges and spiritual growth.
- Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
- Family Systems Therapy Looks at problems within the context of the family as a whole. It aims to improve communication and balance in family relationships.
- Motivational Interviewing (MI) A collaborative, client-centered approach that strengthens motivation for change. It is especially effective for addictions and health behaviors.
- Music Therapy Uses music listening, songwriting, or rhythm exercises to support healing. It is effective for stress, emotional expression, and cognitive challenges.
- Narrative Therapy Encourages people to view problems as separate from themselves and reframe their life story. It helps build resilience and self-identity.
- Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) Helps parents strengthen their bond with their child while learning effective strategies to manage challenging behaviors. Through live coaching, parents practice positive communication, set clear boundaries, and build a more supportive, nurturing home environment.
- Play Therapy Uses toys, games, and creative play to help children express emotions. It is especially useful when children can’t fully verbalize their feelings.
- Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.
Approach Description: My therapeutic approach is grounded in humanistic-existential, cognitive behavioral, and solution-focused brief therapy. I take a holistic, client-centered approach that recognizes each individual's unique experiences and strengths. Through humanistic principles, I help clients remain authentic and aligned with their values. Using cognitive behavioral techniques, I support clients in identifying and challenging unhelpful thought patterns. An existential perspective encourages greater self-awareness, personal responsibility, and the pursuit of a more meaningful and authentic life. Solution-focused brief therapy emphasizes practical strategies and building on clients' existing strengths to achieve meaningful change in the present.
While these approaches form the foundation of my practice, I tailor treatment to meet each client's unique needs, goals, and preferences. When requested and clinically appropriate, I thoughtfully integrate spirituality into the therapeutic process to provide care that is both personalized and culturally responsive.
