Hello and welcome! I'm Dr. Pam Heilman, a licensed clinical psychologist providing telehealth therapy to adults throughout Illinois.
I believe that therapy works best when it combines the science of effective treatment with a genuine, collaborative relationship. My approach is grounded in evidence-based practices, but I also recognize that every person brings their own experiences, strengths, values, and goals to the therapy process. Together, we will work to understand the challenges you're facing and identify practical strategies that can help you move forward.
Many of the individuals I work with struggle with anxiety, OCD, health anxiety, social anxiety, or the overwhelming stress that can come from feeling stuck in patterns of worry, fear, or self-doubt. These experiences can be exhausting and isolating, but they are also highly treatable. My goal is to help you develop the skills and confidence needed to respond differently to difficult thoughts and emotions so they no longer have as much control over your life.

Treatment Approach
- Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
- Christian Counseling Blends psychological practices with Christian values and scripture. It provides faith-based support for life challenges and spiritual growth.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
- Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) An evidence-based treatment for PTSD that teaches clients to reframe unhelpful thoughts about trauma. It helps reduce guilt, shame, and fear.
- Motivational Interviewing (MI) A collaborative, client-centered approach that strengthens motivation for change. It is especially effective for addictions and health behaviors.
- Psychoeducational Therapy Provides education and coping tools about mental health conditions. It empowers clients with knowledge and practical skills.
- Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.
Approach Description: My therapeutic approach is compassionate, thoughtful, and grounded in evidence-based care. I work collaboratively with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, OCD, insomnia, grief, life transitions, and self-esteem concerns, helping them better understand the patterns that maintain distress while also identifying their strengths, values, and capacity for growth.
