I’m here to help people like you gain the benefits of counselling. It’s not about fixing you. It’s about figuring out where you are and creating change so that you can stop second guessing yourself. I specialise in working with quietly capable women to step away from guilt, reconnecting with who they are beneath the expectations, claim back their time and to feel confident and connected through therapy that is collaborative, compassionate and sometimes creative.

Client Focus

Session Format: Individual sessions.
Age Specialty: Adult

Treatment Approach

  • Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
  • Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
Approach Description: My approach to counselling is collaborative and compassionate with you at its heart. I offer online counselling across the UK, as well as telephone sessions and walk-and-talk therapy in Cornwall. I don’t believe in “fixing” people or applying one-size-fits-all techniques. I work integratively, with a strong foundation in person-centred counselling and where helpful integrating creativity into the sessions. This might look like the simple use of imagery or metaphor which can be particularly useful when traditional talking feels difficult or gets stuck. You don’t need to be “creative” to benefit from creative therapy and you don’t have to participate unless you want to. it’s simply another way of being able to access thoughts and feelings. I often work with women who appear to be coping on the outside but feel overwhelmed, anxious, or emotionally exhausted underneath. You might be high functioning but also experiencing anxiety, overthinking, have low self-worth, or have difficulty resting and asking for support. Together, we can begin to make sense of these patterns, reduce self-criticism, and find more sustainable ways of relating to yourself and others. Whether you’re seeking support for anxiety, stress, burnout, or a general sense of feeling stuck, I aim to offer a space where you don’t have to perform, explain everything perfectly, or have it all figured out and I will help you figure out where you want to get started.

Julie Kuhn - Counsellor & Supervisor Practice Description
A mind that doesn’t switch off easily. Replaying conversations and sometimes feeling as though life is unfair. Finding it hard to rest and often feeling that you should be doing something more or doing it better than you are. Fed up with always giving to everyone and struggling to say “no” or put yourself first. I support people through emotional difficulty, life transitions and periods of self-doubt. My work spans two areas of practice one helping you to drop the guilt along with the overthinking and reconnect with yourself and find a more balanced way of being and the second working with those who are out of work and experiencing low self-worth, hopelessness i’m trying to find a way forward. In addition, as a creative art therapist and supervisor, I can also offer out of the box interventions to help when words get stuck and feelings become difficult to express.
