Kate Keach, Natural Compassion Counseling (She/Her)
Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW, LICSW
Are you ready to live authentically and compassionately on your own side? Utilizing Internal Family Systems (IFS) and mindfulness-based therapy, I offer a supportive space to explore the parts of you that feel stuck or in conflict. Together, we'll help those parts soften so you can feel more grounded and at peace with yourself.
If you've tried therapy before but still feel stuck in old patterns, I understand. My work goes beyond talk therapy to help you build an embodied, healing relationship with even the hard-to-love parts of yourself. True well-being is possible, and I would love to help you find greater ease and authenticity in your life.

Treatment Approach
- Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
- Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) Builds skills in self-kindness and compassion toward others. It is especially helpful for people who struggle with shame or self-criticism.
- Contemplative Psychotherapy Combines mindfulness and meditation practices with modern psychology. It encourages awareness and compassion as part of the healing process.
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.
- Feminist Therapy Addresses how gender roles, power, and social inequality affect mental health. It empowers clients to challenge limiting beliefs and systems.
- Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
- Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) Combines mindfulness practices with CBT to prevent depression relapse. It helps people notice thoughts without judgment and respond more calmly.
- Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
- Psychodynamic Therapy Explores unconscious thoughts and patterns that influence current behavior. It builds insight into how the past impacts the present.
- Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.
Approach Description: My approach is trauma-informed and collaborative, drawing from three main modalities:
1. Internal Family Systems (IFS): To help you understand and heal your inner world.
We'll explore the different “parts” of you—like the anxious part or the self-critical part—and learn to meet them with compassion. This helps those parts soften, so you can feel more grounded, whole, and at ease.
2. Polyvagal Therapy: Using gentle, body-based practices, we help your nervous system shift out of fight, flight, or shutdown and return to a state of safety and balance. Clients often describe it as resetting the body’s alarm system.
3. Self-Compassion Practices: To cultivate a kinder inner relationship—treating yourself with the same care you offer others. This supports resilience, eases burnout, and helps you feel strong and gentle with yourself at the same time.

As a Buddhist practitioner, I hold a deep respect for each person’s innate wisdom and capacity to heal. I believe transformation happens not by “fixing” yourself, but by learning to relate to yourself in a new way—with greater compassion and understanding. I offer in-person therapy in Boulder, Colorado, and virtual sessions across Colorado and Massachusetts. I accept most major insurance plans and private pay. Contacting someone new takes courage, but it's worth it. If you’re curious about working together, I welcome you to schedule a free 20-minute consultation.
