Hi! I’m M (they/she), a Chicago-based artist, storyteller, and trauma survivor with training in counseling and art therapy. I grew up in rural Appalachia, and my own healing journey, especially through graphic narrative art, showed me how powerful creativity can be when it comes to making sense of pain and finding meaning again. I hold deep respect for each person’s lived experience and am committed to healing that’s rooted in community, collaboration, and creativity.

Treatment Approach
- Adlerian Therapy Focuses on understanding a person’s sense of belonging and purpose. It helps people overcome feelings of inferiority and create healthier relationships.
- Art Therapy Uses creative activities like drawing, painting, or sculpture as a way to express emotions. It is especially helpful when words are hard to find.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
- Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) An evidence-based treatment for PTSD that teaches clients to reframe unhelpful thoughts about trauma. It helps reduce guilt, shame, and fear.
- Integrative Therapy Combines techniques from multiple approaches into a customized plan. It adapts to each client’s unique situation and needs.
- Narrative Therapy Encourages people to view problems as separate from themselves and reframe their life story. It helps build resilience and self-identity.
Approach Description: My style is warm, down-to-earth, and conversational. I combine elements of narrative, parts work, CBT, and somatic theories to make therapy something you look forward to. I sometimes suggest ideas like scribbling to your favorite song or role playing telling off a politician you’re mad at. I LOVE hearing your ideas to make therapy more customized and fun! If you’re interested in art therapy, I will suggest ways that art materials can help express what words can’t. I’m very excited to help you realize how amazingly resilient you already are.

In therapy with me, your goals, needs, and personality lead the way. I bring warmth, curiosity, humor (yes, there will absolutely be puns), and acceptance of your whole self. I’m here to empower you with knowledge, skills, resources, and a safe relationship where your input truly comes first.
Drawing from narrative, parts work, somatic and evidence-based CBT theories, I incorporate creative ideas into your unique treatment plan. Art-based techniques can help express what words cannot to overcome stubborn blocks. Art-making in therapy is a judgment-free zone that is always an invitation and never required.
