There are three main types of trauma: Acute, Chronic, or Complex. Acute trauma results from a single incident. Chronic trauma is repeated and prolonged such as domestic violence or abuse. Complex trauma is exposure to varied and multiple traumatic events, often of an invasive, interpersonal nature. Sometimes people experience post traumatic responses to adverse childhood experiences, a single event or living as marginalized identities in our society. That is, some people experience trauma response by dealing with recurring microaggressions, discrimination, bullying from individuals, communities and macro aggressions such as systemic oppression. We need to consider the impact traumatic experiences have on our mind, body and overall experience as a human navigating uncertain and challenging times.

Delving into the intricate realm of trauma therapy is where my expertise shines. Collaborating closely with clients, I embark on a journey that uncovers the roots of trauma and its ripple effects. It's a profound realization that the reactions echoing in the present often trace back to triggers formed in the past—reactions that might not truly align with the current moment.
Guided by empathy and insight, I work diligently to assist clients in identifying and reshaping these deeply ingrained beliefs. Together, we forge a path towards transformative change, allowing individuals to navigate their triggers with newfound resilience and clarity. Importantly, I emphasize the cultivation of self-compassion as a cornerstone of this process, creating an environment where healing can flourish.
My dedication to unraveling the complexities of trauma and fostering growth underscores my commitment to each client's journey. Through collaborative exploration, I empower individuals to free themselves from the chains of past trauma, embracing a present that's rich with possibility and self-compassion. With trauma, I am trained in and use multiple appropaches such as CPT, EMDR, IFS, Prolongued Exposure Therapy, and ACT.

Except for individuals who have a physical basis for their problems, trauma is always part of the history of an individual's symptoms. Trauma can be a stand-alone experience or a repetitive experience in an individual's life. After taking a thorough history, we will decide on a path to take - either CBT or psychodynamic.
