Maggie Reynolds (She/Her)
Licensed Professional Counselor, LCPC, EMDR Certified, NCC
With 15 years of experience as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, I genuinely love being part of the moment when things start to shift, when you feel more grounded, more open, and more like yourself again. My goal is to create a space where you can show up as your whole self, and I’ll do the same. Many of my clients are thoughtful, capable people who have already done therapy and want something that helps them break through old patterns and grow in a new direction.

Treatment Approach
- Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
- Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) A structured therapy that uses guided eye movements to help process traumatic memories. It is widely recognized for treating PTSD and trauma-related conditions.
- Feminist Therapy Addresses how gender roles, power, and social inequality affect mental health. It empowers clients to challenge limiting beliefs and systems.
- Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
- Ketamine-Assisted Therapy Combines low doses of ketamine with psychotherapy to treat depression, trauma, and anxiety. It can provide relief when other methods haven’t worked.
- Multicultural Therapy Acknowledges the role of culture, race, and identity in mental health. It values diversity and adapts treatment to each person’s background.
- Narrative Therapy Encourages people to view problems as separate from themselves and reframe their life story. It helps build resilience and self-identity.
- Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
- Psychoeducational Therapy Provides education and coping tools about mental health conditions. It empowers clients with knowledge and practical skills.
- Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.
Approach Description: My approach starts with creating a space where you feel emotionally safe, respected, and understood. We’ll move at a pace that feels manageable, especially if you’re carrying trauma or have learned to stay guarded to get through life. I listen for the story beneath the story, the patterns and nervous system responses that show up in your thoughts, emotions, and relationships. From there, we’ll collaborate on clear goals and a plan that fits you, using the methods that are most effective for your needs. Therapy with me is personalized, grounded, and focused on helping you feel more in control of your life.
I often integrate approaches and therapies, such as:
*humanistic-existential (exploring universal struggles of being a human being)
*person-centered (unconditional positive support)
*acceptance and commitment therapy (accepting yourself and your situation and committing to your personal values)
*cognitive behavioral therapy (looking at your beliefs and behaviors to make improvements)
*somatic (what your body knows/says/needs), attachment-focused (looking at your patterns in relationships)
*internal family systems (looking at the different parts of you that may serve different purposes or want/need different things)
*strengths-based (let's focus on what is working for you and what you are good at)
*expressive arts and narrative therapy (let's tell your story in new ways)
*EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy (healing for your thoughts, emotions, memories and body from past trauma or bad experiences)

I offer individual, couples, family, group, and EMDR therapy for adults in Illinois and Connecticut through telehealth, along with several in-person counseling options in Chicago. I work with people navigating trauma and major life transitions who feel overwhelmed, stuck, emotionally exhausted, or disconnected from themselves. Many of my clients are high-functioning on the outside, but privately struggling with anxiety, burnout, relationship patterns, or the lasting impact of painful experiences.
My goal is to help you stop feeling like you’re in the passenger seat of your own life. Together, we’ll work to understand what’s driving your symptoms and patterns, process what needs healing, and build the skills and inner stability needed for real, lasting change. Therapy with me is collaborative, compassionate, and honest. I will meet you with warmth and respect while also helping you gently challenge what keeps you stuck. I aim to create a space where you can bring your whole self, including the parts of you that feel messy, guarded, uncertain, or tired of “trying to be okay.”
My approach integrates EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), parts work/inner child work, somatic and nervous system-based tools, attachment-focused therapy, and trauma-informed care. I also offer Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) for clients who are looking for a deeper level of healing and transformation. KAP can be especially supportive when traditional talk therapy hasn’t been enough, when you feel stuck in old loops, or when trauma has left you feeling shut down, reactive, or disconnected from yourself. KAP typically includes preparation sessions, medicine sessions, and integration sessions to help you make sense of what comes up and apply insights in a grounded, meaningful way.
I often work with clients who have been in therapy before and are ready for something more effective, more experiential, or more targeted. Whether you’re healing from complex trauma, relationship wounds, emotional abuse, grief, identity shifts, or the stress of navigating a major change, you don’t have to do it alone. Therapy can be a place to finally exhale, feel understood, and start moving forward with clarity and self-trust.
If you’re interested, I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation so you can share what’s bringing you in and we can see if working together feels like the right fit.
