Treatment Approach
- Brainspotting A therapy that uses eye positions to access and process unresolved trauma. It helps release emotional and physical pain held in the body.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
- Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Focuses on strengthening emotional bonds in couples or families. It helps people identify negative cycles and create more secure connections.
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) A structured therapy that uses guided eye movements to help process traumatic memories. It is widely recognized for treating PTSD and trauma-related conditions.
- Gottman Method Couples Therapy Based on decades of research, this method gives couples tools to improve communication, manage conflict, and strengthen intimacy.
- Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
- Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.
- Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.
Approach Description: At Restored, our approach is rooted in the belief that lasting change happens when healing reaches beneath the surface. For individuals, we blend attachment-based therapy and EMDR to help clients understand how past experiences shape present-day beliefs, emotional responses, and automatic reactions — so they can begin showing up in their lives and relationships with greater presence, clarity, and calm. For couples, we draw primarily from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), woven together with Gottman Method, RLT, and other evidence-informed frameworks to help partners break free from painful negative cycles, repair more effectively after conflict, and build the kind of secure, deeply connected relationship they've been longing for. Whether the work is individual or relational, our goal is always the same: less reactivity, more connection, and a relationship with yourself and others that actually feels good to be in.

All Restored Counseling & Wellness Center therapists see clients in-person in Gilbert, AZ and via secure telehealth statewide. Nick Puchalski, LMFT, also sees clients virtually in MN, including many snowbirds who live in both AZ & MN part-time. Our clinic offers 55 and 85-minute weekly appointments, 4–8 hour EMDR intensives, and 2-day couples intensive retreats (6 hours per day) — a highly efficient option for couples ready to do meaningful work without a prolonged timeline.
Our therapists specialize in attachment-based, emotionally-focused couples therapy — blending EFT as our primary framework with elements of Gottman, RLT, and other evidence-informed approaches — alongside EMDR and subconscious trauma work for individuals. EMDR goes beyond traditional talk therapy by targeting the way distressing experiences become stored in the nervous system and body, helping shift automatic reactions and deeply held beliefs about yourself that can be difficult to reach through conversation alone. Our clinical team is trained and supervised by co-founder Nick Puchalski, LMFT — a 15+ year couples therapy specialist, ICEEFT-Certified EFT Therapist and Supervisor, AZBBHE Licensed Clinical Supervisor, and President-Elect of the Arizona EFT board.
Individual therapists also bring their own specialized training across a wide range of areas including divorce and separation, parenting & co-parenting, attachment-based parenting, conscious uncoupling, ADHD, autism and neurodivergence, OCD, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, health-related concerns, faith integration and transitions, and LGBTQ+ affirming care. Our therapists collaborate directly with our Licensed Naturopathic Medical Doctors — offering integrative psychiatric and mental health support for clients seeking natural, root-cause alternatives to conventional treatment, including lab testing, acupuncture, nutrient IVs, botanical medicine, physical medicine, dietary support, and specialty medications.
