Engaging in therapy can be a big decision. It can feel intimidating and uncomfortable. Most people do not like to feel uncomfortable. My goal is walk beside you in your journey to healing and wellness so that you are open to the vulnerability and risk taking associated with growth and personal progress. Having been in this field for 20 years, I have gained the clinical and academic skills and knowledge needed to effectively do this work. More importantly I value being in relationship and compassionately hold space for you. We all do things when we are ready even if we don't realize it. That being said, I believe in working at your pace and being respectful of your process.

Approach Description: The start of therapy is really about building relationship and trust. I do not expect you to feel comfortable or trust me right away. In the beginning, outside of the traditional intake, we explore what is bringing you to therapy and what approaches may be the best fit for you. This usually includes some form of psychoeducation to an approach if you are not already familiar with it. Typically I do not estimate the number of sessions it will take to achieve the outcomes you desire. Because I believe at working at your own pace, as well as the fact that often times, other issues surface , it is not prudent to set a limit. However, if you come to me and tell me I only want to a certain number of sessions, I will do my best to help you maximize your benefit during that time frame.

Sarah C. Benoit Practice Description
While I am licensed in both New Hampshire and Massachusetts, my private practice is located in Southern New Hampshire. For many people this is an easy commute. All of my clients have the option to work either in person or virtually. If you are a good candidate for EMDR, in person therapy is the best option. I strive to provide a comfortable and confidential environment. It is important that you feel safe to be able to explore those issues that are bringing you into session. You may notice that the only office hours specified are Tuesday and Thursday. These are specifically set for in person availability in my Milford office. I offer virtual services as available and by appointment only on Monday and Wednesday.
