Unmet expectations, promises unkept, breaches in trust, hurt feelings, and failed bids for connection. These add up over many years; and eventually our once-robust marriages land us in the roommate zone. "We just lost each other in the busy -ness of life." Does any of this sound familiar? You are not alone! I have used The Gottman Method to successfully help clients skillfully tackle the hard conversations, rekindle that spark, and then maintain the closeness that we felt way back when we first fell in love and just knew that our partner was "the one!"

Client Focus

Session Format: Couple, Family, Individual sessions.
Age Specialty: Adult, Teen, Young Adult
Demographic Expertise: Christian, LGBTQ+, Persons with Disabilities, Women clients.

Treatment Approach

  • Christian Counseling Blends psychological practices with Christian values and scripture. It provides faith-based support for life challenges and spiritual growth.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Gottman Method Couples Therapy Based on decades of research, this method gives couples tools to improve communication, manage conflict, and strengthen intimacy.
  • Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) Combines mindfulness practices with CBT to prevent depression relapse. It helps people notice thoughts without judgment and respond more calmly.
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI) A collaborative, client-centered approach that strengthens motivation for change. It is especially effective for addictions and health behaviors.
  • Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
  • Psychoeducational Therapy Provides education and coping tools about mental health conditions. It empowers clients with knowledge and practical skills.
Approach Description: My approach to counseling begins with my belief that, given a loving, accepting, and nurturing environment, humans can reach their full potential while being content and satisfied in their families, school/work, and relationships. Since many of us did not get the nurturing environment we needed during our development, the therapeutic environment often serves as a do-over to our childhood -- it allows us to grow into wiser, stronger, more satisfied and better adjusted humans! The effectiveness of therapy is highly dependent on the quality of the client-counselor relationship. Come see me, and feel the magic that happens in my office, whether in person or virtually. I'm looking forward to meeting you there.

Seaford Counseling Services Practice Description
At Seaford Counseling Services, I use my professional expertise paired with my personal love for humans, one been able to help hundreds of people build the lives they want to live!! Whether it be adjusting to life transitions, managing mental illness, or improving the closest relationships, many of us need a little extra help. Because life is hard. And we shouldn't have to do it alone. I've been a counselor for over 25 years, eight of which have been with my dream employer-- myself! I could not love my job any more, and I feel incredibly honored to work with people like you. Ever since beginning my counseling career, I've focused on adolescents and young adults. That is such an exciting time full of growth and change; but it can also be a difficult one where we need extra support, and I feel privileged to have a major impact on individuals in this life stage and beyond. As I've gained more life experience as well as additional training with the Gottman Institute, I've gained a specialty-- working with couples! Much of our life satisfaction comes from our most intimate relationship, and I'm able to help couples refine communication skills, learn to "fight right," and essentially enrich their intimacy and love. So whether you are wanting help individually or with your partner/family, come talk to me to see how we might work together to ease anxiety, stress, depression, and more. Because life doesn't have to be this hard!
