Treatment Approach

  • Dance / Movement Therapy Uses movement and body awareness to express emotions and improve mental health. It can increase confidence, reduce stress, and support healing.
  • Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
  • Experiential Therapy Involves hands-on activities to bring emotions into the present moment. It helps clients process feelings more deeply than through conversation alone.
  • Gestalt Therapy Encourages awareness of thoughts, feelings, and actions in the present moment. It helps people integrate different parts of themselves for wholeness.
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
  • Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
  • Psychodynamic Therapy Explores unconscious thoughts and patterns that influence current behavior. It builds insight into how the past impacts the present.
  • Relational Psychotherapy Emphasizes the healing power of the therapist-client relationship. It uses trust and safety as a foundation for change.
  • Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.
  • Transpersonal Therapy Integrates spirituality and higher states of consciousness with psychology. It encourages growth beyond the individual self.
Approach Description: My approach is to treat people like I would a very close family member or friend I love dearly. I am very straightforward, caring, very open and relatable. I remember many years ago needing to seek out therapists and coaches myself. So many were somewhat aloof, even cold, overly academic, guarded, very much in their heads and following a certain method. Many didn't say much. Often they were taking notes rather than really listening to and being with me. I am very different. I am very engaged with my clients, very transparent, very supportive. I am naturally a very empathic and compassionate person. I love what I do. This is not a job for me, it is something I love and there is nothing else I would rather do. I also don't apply one or two methods of therapy to my clients. I have many ways and methods. I use and blend what will be most helpful and effective for my client. It is not the method that creates the healing and transformation, it is the relationship with the therapist, who hopefully has a high level of emotional intelligence and you feel very comfortable with him or her. Feel free to schedule a complimentary session with me, and decide for yourself if I'm someone you trust and feel comfortable to work with. I see most of my clients by zoom from around the world, and some local clients here in Boulder, CO choose to see me in-person, though many locals also use zoom!

Timothy Long Practice Description
I offer a safe, comfortable, easy professional relationship for you. I am highly intuitive and compassionate. I have been on both sides of this for so many years. My clients tell me they are very comfortable and feel at ease with me, they feel understood from the start. Most importantly, they report our therapy to be very successful. We don't just use cognitive and talk therapy, we will be using mind-body, somatic, process orientated therapy, gestalt and parts work. Deep issues can not be resolved without a mind-body, somatic, process oriented approach. This is key. I see the same success whether our sessions take place here in my office in Boulder, CO, or by video from all over the world. I invite you to visit my website www.imaginehealing.com to learn more. There you can easily schedule a complimentary session, where we can get to know each other and I can answer all your questions. I hope you will do this for yourself. I love helping my clients become free from whatever is in their way, and seeing them live the lives they truly want. What do you want? Let me help you make it happen.
