Some might describe me as mature or wise. I have a colorful history full of life experiences and I have the ability to connect with people on their level, whatever their experiences may be. I love to empower people, especially women. I know life can be overwhelming, and I have techniques to help people create and utilize coping skills that will work for them. Some people just need to be heard, and I am an excellent listener.

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.
  • Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.

Therapy Sessions Tina Nickels Practice Description
I use a blend of therapeutic styles, depending on what will be most effective for the person I am treating. My main approach to clients is Person-centered. That means I listen to the client and let them drive the conversation. If this style fits the client, we will be working together to formulate goals and identify the steps to achieve them. This is good for those who are already in touch with their thoughts and feelings. Person-centered therapy is based on the idea that we have our own solutions within us. My job is to listen without judgement or criticism. My naturally compassionate approach works well here. I also utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques, which examine a person's thoughts and feelings and how those affect our behavior. Our thoughts are the result of our core beliefs, and our core beliefs are often developed in childhood. If we were given faulty messages, our core beliefs about ourselves and the world could be flawed, if not down - right wrong. Faulty messages can come from ou
