Trauma and PTSD

Davene, Fecteau

Licensed Professional Counselor, MS, LPCC
Trauma can result from significant life events, or from multiple moments that pile up. Often times, clients come in for therapy to address a symptom (anxiety, depression, addiction) that is caused by underlying trauma The symptoms of trauma can be triggered in so many ways and wreak havoc on our lives. The good news is that trauma can point us to healing. I believe that when the brain and body can access resources to feel safe, trauma can be released and the nervous systems can be reset. Utilizing techniques from EMDR and the Comprehensive Resource Model (CRM), I assist clients in accessing their inner resources in order to process trauma.

Trauma and PTSD

Tyrene (Ty) Siadous

Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFT
In approaching trauma and PTSD, my therapeutic philosophy revolves around creating a compassionate and understanding space. I guide clients through the process of healing, drawing from modalities like Internal Family Systems (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Together, we explore the intricate layers of traumatic experiences, differentiating and validating various aspects of the self. Incorporating experiential approaches such as mindfulness, guided sensory exploration, and specialized trauma-focused techniques, I aim to empower clients to navigate the complexities of their trauma. This holistic and individualized approach is designed not only to address the immediate impact of trauma but also to facilitate a transformative journey towards reclaiming a sense of safety, resilience, and personal empowerment.

Trauma comes in many varieties. In classical PTSD we focus on Abuse, and even then, on severe and dramatic episodes of abuse. A more nuanced and sophisticated approach looks also at "small t" trauma with the same level of respect and seriousness. Neglect is a part of this. Abandonment The history of failed treatments for Trauma is epic. I believe that Shame and Trauma are at the core of psychological distress.
