Although in my early days, I did not quite understand the depth and heartbreaks of addiction, after almost a quarter of a century of study, training, and hands-on experience, I am humbled by the realization of the multiple dimensions of this condition. Although, there is not one single or simple solution, there are a tremendous amount of useful resources and excellent results. I also learned that knowledge, professionalism, and compassion are necessary tools health care workers must possess. There is no place for stigma, judgment, or arrogance.
I strive to provide a safe space for those seeking help, where concerns are heard and evaluated, and where individual needs are carefully and respectfully examined.
