Sam Naimi
Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Psychotherapist & Psychoanalyst
Experiences that are often described as psychotic can feel disorganizing, frightening, or isolating, as if reality itself has become unreliable. In analytic work, we approach these experiences with care and curiosity, listening for their emotional meaning rather than rushing to dismiss or control them. Over time, this kind of work can help restore a sense of coherence, safety, and psychological continuity, allowing the mind to feel more inhabited and less alone with what it is carrying.

TREATMENT AND TOOLS FOR TRAUMA
Licensed Psychoanalyst, PH.D., IN PSYCHOANALYSIS AND NEUROSCIENCE, CERTIFIED PSYCHOANALYST, PSY.A, & LICENSED PSYCHOANALYST
Psychosis represents a separation from reality primarily as defense mechanism against overwhelming feeling states, most often anxiety and depression. In my experience, all psychosis is trauma based. While anti-psychotic medications can be initially helpful to "clear" the mind, it is the working through of the trauma, or traumas, that is the road to a lasting cure. Since I was trained as a Neuro-Psychoanalyst, I am able to intervene approaching both brain (with brain nutrients) and mind (psychoanalysis) in the treatment. I am recommending twice weekly sessions with a careful respect for why the psychosis is there for the patient. What is the role of the psychosis in preventing the patient from facing overwhelming traumatic experiences. You are welcome to call my office at 661-478-0667 for an evaluation.

Oxnard is Ventura County's largest city and a predominantly Hispanic agricultural and industrial center — the county is one of California's most productive strawberry, lemon, and vegetable growing regions — with a therapy community deeply shaped by the experiences of farmworker families navigating immigration stress, seasonal income volatility, and limited English-language access to mainstream mental health services. The city's proximity to Naval Base Ventura County creates additional demand for military-oriented therapists alongside the largely Latino civilian therapy market. St. John's Regional Medical Center provides institutional mental health resources for the area, while the therapy community overall remains relatively sparse relative to the city's population. Bilingual Spanish-English therapists perform essential access work in a city where language barriers significantly limit engagement with standard English-language mental health care.
