London, England therapist: Robert Thompson, registered psychotherapist
Serving Men

Robert Thompson

Registered Psychotherapist, MA, UKCP, MBACP.
The modern world can be a frantic place, one where demands are constant and space is limited. Therapy offers you a chance to pause and take stock, to become more aware of your feelings and to re-examine the choices you are making in a reflective and constructive way. I aim to provide a supportive relationship within which you can safely explore and better understand yourself and your relationships. I take an active role in helping you investigate a broader range of options than at first may present themselves. Therapy invites you to expand the limits of your imagination. I wish to encourage confidence and a resilience in managing feelings of doubt or despair, and to help find a positive and affirming way ahead.

Salford, England therapist: Gordon Wax BA HONS MBACP, counselor/therapist
Serving Men

Gordon Wax BA HONS MBACP

Counsellor/Therapist, Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist
Hi, my name is Gordon. Welcome! I’m am a fully qualified psychotherapist, working both online and in person from my private consulting room in Manchester England. I was born and raised in London. Personal therapy helped me to untangle my relationship with myself and my emotions from others. The world alone is a chaotic place to manage our own unknowns, anxieties, and traumas. I understand that everyone experiences the world in different ways, so unique problems require bespoke responses. Our lives are constantly creating new beginnings, change, and endings, so it’s natural to feel emotions strongly, think differently and respond atypically. I help clients explore all spheres of their life to help them build hope and to cope.

Even if you start therapy to help you out of a dark or difficult time, it is a great gift that you give to yourself. We learn a great deal about ourselves, about others and ultimately about living with more ease and enjoyment. We can get curious about what you learnt growing up and in your life to date that created your world-view, your assumptions and even your body's responses to the situations you face. We'll learn about how you relate to your world in ways that *work* for you, as well as where these ways of relating are causing pain or limiting you. We will find your best ways to unblock and release those old responses. The goal: to help you to be more at-ease and authentically yourself and in relation to friends, family, work and other important people and situations. I believe every one of us has a soul-nature and way of being that works well for us and it's our job to work with that. I work with an integrative palette of approaches and tools, and share them with you in our conversations. A good deal of our work will involve not only thoughts and feelings, but how that lands in your body. When we start to shift what is available to our felt-sense our perceptions and actions can shift accordingly. This is one of the things I love about the recent post-graduate training I've undertaken in Somatic Experiencing. I'm at the Intermediate level in this method and it informs my approach to trauma, to neurodiversity and to relationships.

People come to therapy for a number of reasons; you may be experiencing trauma or bereavement, the effects of historical issues, or knock on effects of the pandemic. A lot of people come to therapy because life just feels unmanageable and are struggling with day to day living. You may not know why life currently feels so difficult. Talking with a trained and experienced counsellor can help you accept and move through your issues, give you the tools and understanding to cope better with life's challenges and discover a freedom to live with and beyond the things that are holding you back. Speaking with someone for the first time about personal issues or trauma can feel really daunting. It is important to feel safe and not judged when talking about difficult things, and my aim is for us to develop a relationship where you can explore whatever it is that you need to.
