In my practice, some clients have, at times, demonstrated tendencies indicative of schizophrenic psychosis with short-lived episodes in which they lose touch with reality. These clients I immediately refer for psychiatric evaluation. In my estimation, because borderline personality disorder is difficult to diagnose, I am careful not attempt to arrive at any diagnosis in under five sessions.
