Holy sh!t don't get me started. Just kidding!
Seriously, we have to come to the table on this one and just lay it all out. We need to take stock of where a couple is and where they want to be. Let's face it....most of us come together as a couple because we click sexually and it is fun to be together, during fun times. What we do not do; is spend adequate time understanding what strengths and weaknesses we have when things are not going so well.
Just know this: as a couples counselor, I am not here to take sides. There are three entities in the room. You, your spouse and that third entity, your relationship. That is the one I am on the side of. Lastly, often times when I start couples counseling, it is clear to me that one of the parties needs an individual psychotherapist to work on issues that are toxic in the relationship. Be prepared. This is an uphill battle and it takes dedication, time and commitment to change a relationship, and each individual within the relationship.

You keep having the same fight with different words. Or you've stopped fighting altogether, not because things are better but because you've stopped trying. The distance between you has grown so gradually you're not sure when it started, only that it's there now, undeniable. Our clinicians are trained in the Gottman Method, the most researched approach to couples therapy available. We help you identify the patterns that are eroding your connection and give you real tools to repair them. This isn't about venting at each other with a referee in the room. It's about learning to turn toward each other again. Telehealth throughout Illinois. BCBS PPO and Aetna accepted.
