Chicago, Illinois therapist: Matthew Brown, DO, MBA, psychiatrist
Interpersonal

Matthew Brown, DO, MBA

Psychiatrist
Dr. Brown is a double board certified psychiatrist and treats children, adolescents and adults. Dr. Brown is an expert in the treatment of OCD. He will also work with clients regarding issues with PTSD, Panic Disorder, Generalized Anxiety, Depression, and ADHD. Dr. Brown focuses largely on using supplements and other natural treatments such as a behavioral change to find a path forward. However, he does prescribe medications as well when needed. The goal of treatment is the less medication overall the better as long as the person is doing ok. In addition to supplements and medication management, unlike most psychiatrists, Dr. Brown also offers psychotherapy services for those who are interested. His open-ended approach aims to help clients find a deeper connection with themselves and for OCD folks is meant to be a compliment to their exposure treatment. Christina Shore Best Therapies Inc.

Licensed Professional Counselor, LPC, DMT
As a trauma informed practitioner I know that it is essential that each individual locate their own unique path towards healing and integration. It requires a lot of work to explore the relationship between inner sensations, emotions, thoughts, and actions. Even bringing awareness to this can be life altering so building resources and self-compassion can be an important foundation to work from. I let the client lead, as you are the expert on yourself, while I provide support, guidance, and reflection so that the therapeutic container can be sturdy enough to lean on and to build trust within.

If you are anxious and/or burnt out and are looking to go beyond fixing a problem or feeling better, I may be the psychologist for you. Think of me as a mental health personal trainer. I can provide some initial relief but also help you get a deeper understanding of yourself. I use a mix of mindfulness based coping skills and provide a form of cognitive behavioral therapy called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Along with some other approaches, we can work together to help you sustain long-term mental health improvement. I specialize in working with people who identify as perfectionists, high-achievers and people pleasers. I don't accept insurance but superbills can provided for potential OON reimbursement upon request.
