ADHD stands for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. A person with ADHD has differences in brain development and brain activity that affect attention, the ability to focus and self-control. ADHD can affect a child at school and an adult in their daily functioning. I will work with you to learn coping skills, improve focus, and I will use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to assist you with behavioral change.
When working with DHD i like to use psychoeducation and help people understand ADHD as a neurodevelopmental condition, not a character flaw.
I provide information on ADHD symptoms, brain functioning, and how it impacts daily life. Emphasis on the importance of self-compassion and reducing stigma.
We will identify and challenge negative self-beliefs related to ADHD (e.g., “I’m lazy,” “I’m a failure”). We will develop skills for time management, organization, and planning. This includes the use of alarms, planners,, and breaking tasks into manageable steps.

ADHD is often accompanied by emotional dysregulation and shame. Using Somatic Experiencing and Mindful Self-compassion, we can address the feelings and the stories we tell ourselves that affect our daily performance and emotional well being. A regulated nervous system is a huge support for working with the executive functioning deficits that may accompany your ADHD.
