Resilient Roots Therapy - Social Work and Psychotherapy Services
Registered Social Worker, RSW, MA, RP-Q
Even in the darkest moments of suicidal thoughts, there are times - however brief - when the pain feels slightly less intense or when you've found reasons to hold on, revealing your innate capacity for survival and hope. By acknowledging these moments of strength and building upon the ways you've already kept yourself safe, while taking small steps toward your vision of change, you'll discover that life can gradually become more bearable as you connect with your natural resilience and the unique reasons that make your presence in this world meaningful.

Selah Counselling, Mediation, and Training Center
Registered Social Worker, BSW, MSW, RSW
If you are experiencing suicidal thoughts, you may feel overwhelmed, exhausted, or trapped in a level of pain that seems unending. You might feel hopeless, numb, or burdened by the belief that things will not improve. These thoughts can feel frightening and isolating, yet they are often a signal of deep distress rather than a true desire to die.
At Selah Counselling, we take suicidal thoughts seriously and respond with calm, compassionate care. Your safety is our priority. We work with you to reduce immediate risk, strengthen protective supports, and understand the factors contributing to your pain. Together, we focus on stabilizing your nervous system, addressing underlying depression, trauma, or stress, and rebuilding a sense of hope and connection. You do not have to navigate this alone.
If you are in immediate danger or feel unable to keep yourself safe, please seek urgent support by calling 911 or going to your nearest emergency department. In Canada, you can also call or text 988 for the Suicide Crisis Helpline, available 24 hours a day.

Joshua Lewis
Registered Psychotherapist, RP, CT
Psychotherapy can often be beneficial for people who are experiencing chronic suicidal ideation and behavior. However, when individuals are at risk of suicide it is essential that they receive a higher level of care and weekly psychotherapy is not always sufficient on its own to protect those who are in crisis and adequately address risk. Once an individual is no longer in crisis, therapy to treat the underlying causes of suicidal ideation or behavior is typically recommended. The psychotherapy model considers hopelessness to be the strongest contributing factor to suicidal ideation, and a large part of crisis intervention and post crisis counseling aims to restore hope. An individual who continues in therapy once the point of crisis has passed will likely explore ways to resist urges to self-harm, address the factors that led to suicidal thoughts, and create a plan that includes coping strategies and methods to address suicidal thoughts in the event that they recur.
