For children who are victims use activities from “A Child Sexual Abuse Kit”. The Shame that accompanies this form of abuse encourages its survivors us to feel flawed and inadequate as they internalize the consistent message that their experience is too horrible for words…and, by implication, that consequently THEY are too horrible for words.Such paralyzing and isolating feelings associated with this form of abuse, particularly shame often further results in a need to punish oneself for perceived wrong doing. As many survivors feel that their treatment is “proof” that they are worthless, when rejected by others, they in turn punish further themselves. Self -sabotaging behavior may include poor and self -destructive choices, very often even on an unconscious level.
