Are you stuck in negative and unproductive patterns? Are you looking to seriously improve your life or your communication within your family, your significant other or spouse? Are you willing to do something different? If so, lets talk. I am an integrative and holistic therapist. I work collaboratively with individuals and couples, treating the complete person: mind, body, heart and spirit, for total wellness and better relationships.
I am finally fulfilling my own personal and mythic destiny to be a counselor for individuals wanting to find their own purpose by resolving what has stopped them along their life path. I bring a depth and wealth of academic, professional and real world experiences and education to my clients.
My goal is to help you uncover and shed these labels, to learn self compassion, find your voice and power in authenticity. We will also build skills to regulate distressing emotions. Emotional regulation is an often overlooked cornerstone of mental health - we need to feel emotions but often are not taught how, which can make feelings seem overwhelming.
I’m Sonya Jensen, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Certified Gottman Method Couples Therapist and Sex Therapist. I have extensive post-graduate training and experience working with couples through their most difficult times. My approach is collaborative, supportive, and backed by research. In addition to giving couples clear guidance and tools, I’m passionate about bringing genuine warmth and heart to our work together.
It brings me so much joy to witness others' successes and it is truly fulfilling to me to be your guide on your journey of healing. I have been in the mental health field for over 7 years, supporting individuals and couples experiencing difficulty and dissonance in their lives, and ultimately leading them towards clarity and truth.
My vision is to empower the LGBTQ+ community. I provide individual and couple counseling to those dealing with trauma, addiction and codependence. I especially enjoy working with couples. I serve the LGBTQ+ community, and I am proud to be part of that community as well. I am very passionate about helping my clients become authentically themselves in every way. I provide support for LGBTQ+ clients who are navigating negative experiences, sexuality/gender issues, trauma, relationship issues and spiritual/religious abuse. I take what I have learned through experience and education and assist my clients in the areas that create stress, anxiety and depression.
I'm here to provide support, understanding, education, and professional guidance as we process your thoughts and emotions together, enhance your self-awareness, and use of your inner strengths so you are able to grow into the best version of yourself.
Is stress piling on at home and work? Are you tired of anxious thoughts stealing your confidence? Maybe depression is weighing you down and holding you back. Are your relationships a source of conflict and angst instead of joy? If you answered yes, then it's time to start living your best life. Many exciting opportunities and life transitions can lead to an increase in anxiety or stress about how to adapt to new circumstances. Sometimes people simply feel like they need some extra support from time to time. Counseling isn't just for those who are struggling with mental illness. “Talk therapy” or counseling provides a safe, non-judgmental place to talk about your relationships, circumstances and experiences, to explore and expand your options, and to develop better skills to manage various life challenges. I enjoy working with clients who are ready to create change - or learn how to best respond to change - in their lives and their relationships. Contact me today to schedule your free, no pressure, 15-minute phone consultation to talk about how we can work together to make life good!
Drug and Alcohol Counselor, Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor
I am a person of long term recovery from substance use disorder, I am the wife of a person in long term recovery and I have 2 adult children that are in recovery as well. When it comes to the power of addiction, there is no one that I can't relate too. I know from personal experience the devastation that addiction brings to a family but also know the power of what recovery can bring. It is not an easy path and often times residential treatment and/or intensive outpatient treatment is a starting point. My desire to help people break free from the cycle of addiction comes from knowing that we do recover!
