Treatment Approach
- Adlerian Therapy Focuses on understanding a person’s sense of belonging and purpose. It helps people overcome feelings of inferiority and create healthier relationships.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
- Experiential Therapy Involves hands-on activities to bring emotions into the present moment. It helps clients process feelings more deeply than through conversation alone.
- Narrative Therapy Encourages people to view problems as separate from themselves and reframe their life story. It helps build resilience and self-identity.
- Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
Approach Description: I believe therapy works best when you feel safe enough to be yourself, comfortable asking questions, and confident that your voice matters. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in the understanding that everyone brings unique experiences, strengths, and perspectives into the counselling relationship.
I primarily draw from Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Narrative Therapy, integrating evidence-informed strategies to support your individual needs and goals.
Through a person-centred approach, I prioritize building a trusting, non-judgmental relationship where you feel genuinely heard and respected. Rather than telling you what you should do, I work alongside you to explore what matters most and identify changes that feel meaningful and achievable.
CBT can help us explore connections between thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. Together, we may identify unhelpful thinking patterns, develop practical coping strategies, and build skills for managing difficult emotions or navigating everyday challenges.
Narrative Therapy offers opportunities to examine the stories we tell ourselves about who we are and what we're capable of. By exploring these stories with curiosity and compassion, we can begin separating your identity from the challenges you're experiencing and discover alternative perspectives that support growth and self-acceptance.
My practice is also neurodivergent-affirming and culturally responsive. I recognize that traditional approaches may not work equally well for everyone, particularly when differences in communication, sensory experiences, cultural expectations, or ways of processing information are involved. I adapt our sessions to honour your needs rather than expecting you to conform to a particular therapeutic model.
Above all, I see counselling as a partnership. We will move at a pace that feels manageable, celebrate progress in its many forms, and regularly check in to ensure our work continues to reflect your goals.
You don't need to change who you are to experience meaningful growth. Together, we can build on your existing strengths while developing greater confidence, resilience, and understanding of yourself.

Sometimes, life's challenges can leave us feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of ourselves. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, navigating ADHD or autism, experiencing relationship difficulties, or trying to balance cultural and family expectations, you deserve support that recognizes your individual experiences and strengths.
My name is Kajal Sohal, and I offer compassionate, affordable counselling through Grigore Counselling & Associates. As a South Asian, neurodivergent counselling practicum student, I bring both professional experience and an appreciation for how identity, culture, family, and lived experiences shape the way we understand ourselves and the world around us.
Before beginning my counselling training, I spent over seven years working as a Behavioural Interventionist and Community Support Worker, supporting children and adults with diverse emotional, behavioural, and developmental needs. These experiences taught me that meaningful progress begins with understanding the person behind the challenges—not simply focusing on symptoms or diagnoses.
I am particularly passionate about supporting neurodivergent individuals, including those navigating ADHD and autism. I recognize that differences in thinking, communicating, processing emotions, and experiencing the world are not shortcomings to be corrected. My goal is to help you understand your unique needs, recognize your strengths, and develop strategies that work for you rather than expecting you to fit someone else's definition of success.
I also understand how challenging it can be to balance personal needs with cultural values, family expectations, and relationships. As someone who appreciates the complexities of navigating multiple identities, I strive to provide culturally responsive counselling where these experiences can be explored openly and without judgment. I offer services in both English and Punjabi.
Our sessions are collaborative and guided by what matters most to you. You won't be expected to have all the answers, know exactly what to say, or make changes before you're ready. Together, we can explore patterns that may be holding you back, strengthen your confidence, develop practical coping skills, and work toward healthier relationships and greater emotional well-being.
I draw from person-centred, cognitive behavioural, narrative, and other therapeutic approaches, adapting our work to your individual goals and preferences. As a counselling practicum student, I work under professional clinical supervision, allowing me to provide thoughtful, supported care at a more accessible fee.
**Affordable counselling should never mean compromising on compassion, respect, or individualized attention.** Sessions are available at a student rate of $120, with sliding-scale options available where applicable.
Whether you're seeking support for yourself or someone you care about, reaching out can be an important first step. I would welcome the opportunity to learn about your experiences, answer your questions, and explore how counselling might help you move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and self-compassion.
