Timothy Walker (He/Him)

Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFT
 therapist: Timothy Walker,
Online in California (Online Only)
Where within you does conflict persist? Is it in the body, a swirling energy the surges without explanation, keeping you spinning in thought circles and struggling to sleep or relax (ANXIETY)? Is it in the heart, the whistling emptiness of grief, or the stabbing pain of ruptured relationships, and lost connections (DEPRESSION)? Is it in the head, thoughts that won’t stop reciting their well worn verses of what-ifs and should-haves (OCD/ADHD)? Is it in the spirit, an anguish of being, the unknown outnumbering the known to a paralyzing degree, questions of WHY swirling intangible as mist, existential questions, the ground beneath our feet uneven and unsteady (BELIEF/MEANING)? Is it in all of the above, and in your dreams as well, impacting ability to connect with others, to be still with yourself, to be intimate, to give and receive love, to accept what was, embrace what will be, and surrender to the now (TRAUMA)?

Treatment Approach

  • Biopsychosocial Therapy Takes into account biological, psychological, and social factors in understanding mental health. It looks at the whole person, not just symptoms.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Contemplative Psychotherapy Combines mindfulness and meditation practices with modern psychology. It encourages awareness and compassion as part of the healing process.
  • Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
  • Feminist Therapy Addresses how gender roles, power, and social inequality affect mental health. It empowers clients to challenge limiting beliefs and systems.
  • Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) A short-term approach focused on improving relationships and social support. It is often used for depression and grief.
  • Jungian Therapy Draws on Carl Jung’s ideas about archetypes, dreams, and the collective unconscious. It helps people explore deeper layers of meaning.
  • Narrative Therapy Encourages people to view problems as separate from themselves and reframe their life story. It helps build resilience and self-identity.
  • Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
  • Psychodynamic Therapy Explores unconscious thoughts and patterns that influence current behavior. It builds insight into how the past impacts the present.
  • Relational Psychotherapy Emphasizes the healing power of the therapist-client relationship. It uses trust and safety as a foundation for change.
  • Transactional Analysis Explores interactions through the lens of Parent, Adult, and Child roles. It aims to improve communication and self-awareness.
Approach Description: Therapy is a dialogue, an exchange, a relationship. I draw from a variety of psychology disciplines, somatic, spiritual, cognitive, and depth, while integrating the wealth of knowledge on the human condition that exists outside psychology, including history, philosophy, literature, and neuroscience. I seek to establish a safe space, a refuge, a repository for learning, healing and growth. I hold the firm belief that change IS possible, no matter where we are on our journey. I also believe in the power of conversation, and words, to add structure to the thoughts and feelings that swim within, so that we may examine our inner world and make sense of abstract noise, and so doing, open up new doors of Self through which new chapters await.
