You're probably pretty good at keeping things together. You show up, take care of what needs to be done, and keep moving forward, even when things feel difficult underneath. But being the person everyone relies on can make it hard to recognize when you need support yourself. I'm a down-to-earth therapist who believes therapy should feel like a genuine conversation, not a clinical checklist. I'll meet you with compassion, curiosity, and honesty, while also gently challenging the patterns that may be keeping you stuck. You don't need to have the right words, know where to start, or have everything figured out before reaching out.

Session Format: Couple, Group, Individual sessions.

Treatment Approach

  • Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) A trauma-focused therapy that uses eye movements and imagery to help the brain reframe distressing memories. It often leads to quicker relief from symptoms compared to traditional talk therapy.
  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.
  • Psychoeducational Therapy Provides education and coping tools about mental health conditions. It empowers clients with knowledge and practical skills.
  • Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.
Approach Description: My approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and tailored to each person's needs. I believe therapy works best when we combine a genuine therapeutic relationship with practical, evidence-based strategies that support meaningful change. I draw from Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, and somatic interventions. Depending on your goals, our work might involve processing traumatic experiences, understanding how your nervous system responds to stress, challenging beliefs that developed through difficult experiences, building emotional regulation skills, or exploring patterns in relationships. I balance compassion with gentle challenge. We won't rush into difficult experiences before you're ready, but we also won't avoid the things that may be keeping you stuck. My goal isn't simply to help you cope better. It's to help you feel more connected to yourself, more confident navigating difficult experiences, and better able to build a life that reflects what matters to you.

Annastashia Martin Practice Description
At Oak House Therapy Co., I work with people who have spent a long time being strong for everyone else, often while carrying experiences that have been difficult to process. My practice focuses on trauma, PTSD, anxiety, occupational stress, and the ways these experiences can affect our relationships, sense of safety, and connection with ourselves. I have a particular interest in supporting first responders, military veterans, healthcare professionals, therapists, and other helping professionals. I also work with partners and family members navigating the impact of trauma and high-stress occupations. My background includes clinical work and leadership in both inpatient and outpatient mental health settings, where I've supported individuals experiencing complex mental health concerns, occupational psychological injuries, and challenges related to rehabilitation and returning to work. While I bring experience and evidence-based training to our sessions, I believe effective therapy starts with understanding you as a person. Together, we'll explore not only what you're experiencing now, but how past experiences, relationships, and coping strategies may be influencing the way you move through the world. Oak House was created to offer a space for slowing down, understanding yourself more deeply, and finding ways to move forward that feel meaningful and sustainable.
