I became a therapist because I believe people deserve a space where they can feel truly seen, understood, and accepted for who they are. I care deeply about creating therapy that is compassionate, inclusive, and anti-oppressive—because I believe our identities, relationships, communities, and lived experiences all matter in the therapy room. My goal is to meet you where you are, without judgment or assumptions, and work alongside you to better understand yourself, heal, and create meaningful change. I work with children, adolescents, and adults navigating anxiety, trauma, betrayal trauma, relationships, ADHD, and life transitions, and I strive to make therapy a space where you can show up as your whole self.

Treatment Approach

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
  • Behavioral Therapy Uses learning techniques like reinforcement and practice to change unwanted behaviors. It is often applied to phobias, anxiety, and habits.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) Builds skills in self-kindness and compassion toward others. It is especially helpful for people who struggle with shame or self-criticism.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.
  • Experiential Therapy Involves hands-on activities to bring emotions into the present moment. It helps clients process feelings more deeply than through conversation alone.
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) A structured therapy that uses guided eye movements to help process traumatic memories. It is widely recognized for treating PTSD and trauma-related conditions.
  • Family Systems Therapy Looks at problems within the context of the family as a whole. It aims to improve communication and balance in family relationships.
  • Feminist Therapy Addresses how gender roles, power, and social inequality affect mental health. It empowers clients to challenge limiting beliefs and systems.
  • Integrative Therapy Combines techniques from multiple approaches into a customized plan. It adapts to each client’s unique situation and needs.
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI) A collaborative, client-centered approach that strengthens motivation for change. It is especially effective for addictions and health behaviors.
  • Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
  • Psychoeducational Therapy Provides education and coping tools about mental health conditions. It empowers clients with knowledge and practical skills.
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.
  • Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.
Approach Description: I use an integrative, trauma-informed approach that draws from several therapeutic modalities, including EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS/parts work), somatic therapies, CBT, DBT, ACT, attachment-based approaches, expressive arts, Motivational Interviewing, and strengths-based therapy. I believe therapy should be individualized, so I adapt our work based on your goals, experiences, preferences, and what feels supportive and useful to you. I’m also interested in the ways our bodies can communicate and hold experiences that can be difficult to put into words. For clients who are interested, I may incorporate gentle movement, body awareness, grounding, and other somatic practices into our work. I am trained in the Trauma-Conscious Yoga Method for Therapists, which informs the way I thoughtfully incorporate movement and body-based practices into therapy. These practices are always optional and collaborative—you never have to move or participate in anything that doesn’t feel right for you. For clients healing from trauma or betrayal, I often incorporate approaches that can help connect the mind and body, process painful experiences, understand protective patterns, and rebuild a sense of safety and self-trust. I also integrate practical skills for emotional regulation, communication, boundaries, and coping when those are helpful. My overall approach is warm, curious, compassionate, and nonjudgmental. I’m not here to tell you who you should be or what choices you should make. Instead, I want to help you better understand yourself, reconnect with your strengths, and make choices that align with the life and relationships you want to build.

Fees & Insurance

Fees
  • Average Session Fee $150
  • Affordable sliding scale therapy: apply if you may be eligible.
  • I believe access to quality mental health care should not be limited by financial circumstances. I offer a limited number of sliding-scale appointments for clients who may not be able to afford my standard session fee. Sliding-scale rates are based on individual financial circumstances and availability. If cost is a barrier to beginning therapy, please feel welcome to reach out so we can discuss whether a reduced-fee option may be available. Sliding Scale is reserved for clients needing weekly or every-other-week therapy. Clients seeking or transitioning to monthly or maintenance sessions do not qualify for receiving sliding scale services.

Becca Edwards Practice Description
I believe therapy should be a place where you can show up as your whole self—without judgment, pressure, or having to have everything figured out before you walk through the door. My goal is to create a warm, collaborative, and affirming space where we can slow down, make sense of what you’re experiencing, and work together toward meaningful change. I work with children, adolescents, and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, betrayal trauma, ADHD, emotional regulation difficulties, relationship challenges, attachment wounds, self-esteem concerns, and major life transitions. I have a particular interest in supporting clients who are healing from painful or emotionally complicated relationships, including betrayal, relational trauma, and experiences that have left them questioning their sense of self, their relationships, or their ability to trust themselves and others. I take a trauma-informed and relationship-centered approach to therapy, recognizing that our experiences, relationships, environments, and nervous systems all influence how we move through the world. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, I want to understand the whole picture: what you’ve been through, how you’ve learned to cope, what is happening for you now, and what you want your life to look like moving forward. My work is gender-affirming, LGBTQ+ affirming, culturally responsive, and grounded in the belief that you are the expert on your own experience. I incorporate approaches including EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS/parts work), somatic therapies, CBT, DBT, ACT, attachment-based approaches, Motivational Interviewing, and strengths-based therapy. I tailor these approaches to each person rather than expecting every client to fit the same therapeutic model. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected from yourself, struggling in a relationship, healing from something painful, or simply know that something needs to change, you don’t have to figure it all out alone. Therapy can be a space to develop greater self-understanding, build practical coping skills, heal from past experiences, strengthen your relationships with yourself and others, and move toward a life that feels more authentic and fulfilling.
