Treatment Approach
- Behavioral Therapy Uses learning techniques like reinforcement and practice to change unwanted behaviors. It is often applied to phobias, anxiety, and habits.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
- Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Focuses on strengthening emotional bonds in couples or families. It helps people identify negative cycles and create more secure connections.
- Experiential Therapy Involves hands-on activities to bring emotions into the present moment. It helps clients process feelings more deeply than through conversation alone.
- Family Systems Therapy Looks at problems within the context of the family as a whole. It aims to improve communication and balance in family relationships.
- Multicultural Therapy Acknowledges the role of culture, race, and identity in mental health. It values diversity and adapts treatment to each person’s background.
- Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.
Approach Description: At PHL Therapy Collective, an eclectic approach is common to provide greater possibilities for change with clients. We are client-focused, so we are responsive to your needs and your language and understanding of yourself. You can expect elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Psychodynamic, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy as well as mindfulness and the understanding that the body affects the mind and vice versa.
Regularly weekly 50 minute sessions are the norm but as therapy progresses frequency may change based on your needs. Because we are systemically based, individual therapy can at times include bringing in a family member or partner and family or relationship therapy can include different groupings, depending on the focus of therapy at different times.

Teens and adults, including senior citizens, can expect a compassionate and safe space to build trust and explore the issues that bring them to therapy, whether it be trauma or any past experiences with present day consequences; deepening their understanding of themselves; and changing how they relate to the world around them.
Therapy can be short - 10 to 15 sessions, or extended, depending on your needs and interest. Client-focused means you are the expert on yourself. The role of the therapist is to provide a supportive outside perspective, not a “devil’s advocate”, that allows us to take a longer view - past and future - to help guide you toward your own goals.
