Brittany Ryan-Berzins (She/Her)

Psychologist, PhD
I’m Dr. Brittany Ryan-Berzins, a licensed clinical psychologist and Co-Founder of Birch Tree Psychology. For more than two decades, I have had the privilege of helping children, adolescents, and adults navigate periods of emotional difficulty, personal transition, and significant change. My work is grounded in the belief that therapy should offer both a compassionate place to feel understood and a thoughtful path toward meaningful, lasting change. I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-esteem, and the challenges that accompany major life transitions. I have a particular interest in working with women and adolescent girls as they navigate the complexities of identity, relationships, motherhood, fertility, divorce, and other pivotal stages of life. I also work closely with parents who are seeking a deeper understanding of their child or adolescent and want thoughtful, effective support during challenging periods. My approach is highly individualized and collaborative. I draw from evidence-based approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and behavioral strategies, while also exploring the ways in which earlier experiences can shape our emotional lives, relationships, and patterns of responding. I believe that meaningful therapy requires looking beyond symptoms to understand the person as a whole—your history, strengths, relationships, values, and aspirations. Many of the clients I work with are thoughtful, capable, and accustomed to managing a great deal on their own. Yet beneath that competence, they may be struggling with self-doubt, perfectionism, an unforgiving inner critic, or the feeling that something in their lives has become increasingly difficult to navigate. Therapy can provide the opportunity to step back, gain perspective, and develop a more compassionate and grounded understanding of yourself. I bring warmth, curiosity, and clinical expertise to each therapeutic relationship. I strive to create an environment that feels comfortable and genuine while maintaining a clear focus on the goals that bring you to therapy. Together, we identify the patterns that may be holding you back, develop practical strategies for navigating the present, and work toward a greater sense of confidence, resilience, and emotional well-being. My hope is that therapy becomes more than a place to manage what is difficult. It can be a space to know yourself more deeply, strengthen your relationships, and make intentional choices about the life you want to create. Wherever you are in that process, I would be honored to help you move forward.

Treatment Approach

  • Behavioral Therapy Uses learning techniques like reinforcement and practice to change unwanted behaviors. It is often applied to phobias, anxiety, and habits.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) Builds skills in self-kindness and compassion toward others. It is especially helpful for people who struggle with shame or self-criticism.
  • Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) Combines mindfulness practices with CBT to prevent depression relapse. It helps people notice thoughts without judgment and respond more calmly.

Therapy Sessions Brittany Ryan-Berzins Practice Description
Exceptional Psychological Care for People Who Expect More From Their Lives At Birch Tree Psychology, we believe exceptional individuals deserve exceptional care. Our practice provides highly personalized, evidence-based psychological services for children, adolescents, adults, and families who are seeking more than a traditional therapy experience. We work with thoughtful, motivated individuals who value personal growth, emotional well-being, and the opportunity to live with greater intention and fulfillment. Our clinicians bring advanced training, extensive clinical experience, and a genuine commitment to understanding each client as an individual. We recognize that no two people—or circumstances—are alike. Our approach is therefore tailored to your unique history, goals, relationships, strengths, and aspirations. We frequently work with high-achieving professionals, entrepreneurs, parents, students, and individuals navigating demanding careers, relationships, and life transitions. Even when life appears successful from the outside, anxiety, depression, perfectionism, self-doubt, relationship difficulties, or unresolved experiences can quietly take a toll. Therapy can provide a confidential and thoughtful space to step back, gain perspective, and address what may be getting in the way of feeling fully engaged in your life. Our areas of expertise include anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem, relationship concerns, parenting, and major life transitions. We also have particular expertise in supporting women and adolescent girls through pivotal periods of development and change. A Higher Level of Personalization We intentionally maintain a private-practice model that allows us to provide highly individualized care. Sessions are thoughtful, focused, and tailored to the person sitting in front of us. We take the time to understand not only what brings you to therapy, but also what you hope to achieve. Our work integrates evidence-based psychological approaches with warmth, insight, and clinical judgment. Depending on your needs, treatment may incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, behavioral strategies, and deeper exploration of the experiences and patterns that influence how you think, feel, and relate to others. We believe excellent therapy should be both compassionate and intellectually rigorous—grounded in science while remaining deeply human. For Those Seeking Meaningful Change Many of our clients are accustomed to setting ambitious goals and pursuing excellence in their professional and personal lives. They may be successful, capable, and highly functioning, yet recognize that something deserves attention: a relationship that no longer feels fulfilling, anxiety that has become difficult to manage, perfectionism that comes at a cost, a transition that feels unexpectedly challenging, or simply a desire to understand themselves more deeply. Therapy is an investment in that process. Because we operate as an out-of-network practice, our model allows us to prioritize the therapeutic relationship and the quality of care without the constraints often associated with insurance-based treatment. We work directly with our clients and can provide the documentation necessary for those who choose to seek reimbursement from their insurance carrier, depending on their individual out-of-network benefits. At Birch Tree Psychology, our goal is not simply to help you feel better. It is to help you understand yourself more fully, navigate challenges with greater confidence and clarity, strengthen the relationships that matter most, and create a life that feels genuinely aligned with who you are and what matters to you. Thoughtful care. Exceptional expertise. Meaningful change.
