Pequannock Township, New Jersey therapist: Brittany Ryan-Berzins, psychologist
Anxiety

Brittany Ryan-Berzins

Psychologist, PhD
My approach to treating anxiety is both compassionate and practical, with an emphasis on understanding the underlying patterns that keep anxiety in place. I help clients identify the thoughts, behaviors, and experiences that contribute to anxious feelings while developing effective strategies to respond differently. Drawing from cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and behavioral techniques, we work together to build greater emotional flexibility, confidence, and tolerance for uncertainty. I also pay close attention to the ways anxiety can intersect with perfectionism, high achievement, relationships, and life transitions. My goal is not simply to reduce anxiety, but to help clients feel less constrained by it—to move through life with greater clarity, self-trust, and freedom. Anxiety doesn’t have to run your life. At Birch Tree Psychology, we offer therapy that helps you reconnect with calm, confidence, and clarity. We provide in-person sessions in Pompton Plains, New Jersey, as well as virtual therapy for residents in participating PSYPACT states. Reach out today to get matched with a therapist who understands what you’re going through and can help you move forward.

New York City, New York therapist: Lenny Gallo, licensed clinical social worker
Anxiety

Lenny Gallo

Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW
Anxiety is a perceived fear about a future that has not yet happened. It presents itself as worry and panic and can cause physiological changes in the body, such as pounding heart, sweating, racing thoughts, and irritability. Experiencing occasional anxiety is a normal part of life. However, people with anxiety disorders frequently have intense, excessive, and persistent debilitating worry and agitation about everyday situations. Anxiety disorders often involve repeated episodes of sudden feelings of intense anxiety and fear or terror that reach a peak within minutes (panic attacks). These feelings of anxiety and panic interfere with daily activities, are difficult to control, are out of proportion to the actual danger, and can last a long time. You may notice that you avoid places or situations to prevent these feelings. Anxiety can actually be a good thing, however. When we learn how to work with it, rather than fighting it, we may find that symptoms begin to go away on their own. My approach to treating anxiety is to utilize a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy to examine anxious thoughts, figure out ways to readjust our thinking, and develop better coping skills. Together we can work on how to manage this feeling so that you can take back control of your life.
