Treatment Approach

  • Art Therapy Uses creative activities like drawing, painting, or sculpture as a way to express emotions. It is especially helpful when words are hard to find.
  • Behavioral Therapy Uses learning techniques like reinforcement and practice to change unwanted behaviors. It is often applied to phobias, anxiety, and habits.
  • Biopsychosocial Therapy Takes into account biological, psychological, and social factors in understanding mental health. It looks at the whole person, not just symptoms.
  • Christian Counseling Blends psychological practices with Christian values and scripture. It provides faith-based support for life challenges and spiritual growth.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.
  • Eclectic Therapy Draws from different therapeutic methods based on what fits each client best. It is flexible and personalized rather than following one single model.
  • Family Systems Therapy Looks at problems within the context of the family as a whole. It aims to improve communication and balance in family relationships.
  • Integrative Therapy Combines techniques from multiple approaches into a customized plan. It adapts to each client’s unique situation and needs.
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
  • Play Therapy Uses toys, games, and creative play to help children express emotions. It is especially useful when children can’t fully verbalize their feelings.
  • Psychodynamic Therapy Explores unconscious thoughts and patterns that influence current behavior. It builds insight into how the past impacts the present.
  • Psychoeducational Therapy Provides education and coping tools about mental health conditions. It empowers clients with knowledge and practical skills.
  • Psychosocial Therapy Looks at how social and environmental factors affect psychological health. It emphasizes relationships, community, and resilience.
  • Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) Helps clients challenge and replace irrational beliefs. It is an action-oriented approach for lasting change.
  • Self Psychology Explores the development of self-esteem and identity. It emphasizes the importance of empathy in healing.
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.
Approach Description: The best approach is the one that works for you! Your therapist will have an average of 20 years experience and is trained to be able to use multiple types of therapy. No one style works for everyone. Treatment should be adapted to your goals, needs, and personality.

Cyndi Turner Practice Description
Insight Into Action Therapy is a group of clinicians who are passionate about helping you find balance. We offer individual, couples, family, group, and play therapy in addition to psychological testing and medication evaluations and monitoring with a board certified psychiatrist. If you or a loved one is struggling with mental health, relationships, substance use, or addictions, we can help. Your therapist will collaborate with the other involved professionals to create an individualized treatment plan. The Dual Diagnosis Recovery Program is for individuals and their family who are dealing with both mental health and substance use disorders. We do on-site urine drug screening, 80-hour alcohol tests, and Breathalyzers. If you have received a legal charge or are on probation or parole, we can complete an evaluation and provide court ordered treatment and fulfill ASAP requirements. Groups are available for adolescents and adults. If you are concerned about your drinking but are not ready to quit altogether, take the Alcohol Moderation Assessment and read Practicing Alcohol Moderation: A Comprehensive workbook. You can learn ways to have a better relationship with alcohol, practice realistic coping skills, and develop an Alcohol Moderation Plan. There are no waitlists. We know that once you finally make the call, you are ready to make a change. You can reach out directly to a therapist at 703-646-7664 and read our bios and email us at: www.insightactiontherapy.com.
