Treatment Approach

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
  • Adlerian Therapy Focuses on understanding a person’s sense of belonging and purpose. It helps people overcome feelings of inferiority and create healthier relationships.
  • Behavioral Therapy Uses learning techniques like reinforcement and practice to change unwanted behaviors. It is often applied to phobias, anxiety, and habits.
  • Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) Builds skills in self-kindness and compassion toward others. It is especially helpful for people who struggle with shame or self-criticism.
  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Focuses on strengthening emotional bonds in couples or families. It helps people identify negative cycles and create more secure connections.
  • Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
  • Feminist Therapy Addresses how gender roles, power, and social inequality affect mental health. It empowers clients to challenge limiting beliefs and systems.
  • Jungian Therapy Draws on Carl Jung’s ideas about archetypes, dreams, and the collective unconscious. It helps people explore deeper layers of meaning.
Approach Description: I will help you to discover what your purpose in life is. We will come together to explore your presenting issues and explore how you can live a more authentic, meaningful life. As both counsellor and participant in a patriarchal Western society, I also recognize how much our culture has stigmatized emotional experiencing. We have been taught from a young age that anger, sadness, guilt and shame are "bad" emotions, and "the pursuit of happiness" is an ideal we must all chase. I offer a place for you to explore all the emotions you may have been scared away (or outright forbidden) from experiencing in the world. I will draw on various areas of expertise in counselling to tailor my treatment plan specifically to you and your unique needs.
